As with every game from this Dev I feel the end result would be better if he was the ideas guy setting the broad strokes of the game and left balancing progression to someone less player-hostile and programming to a team that gets shit done in less glacial pace. Alas, solo indie dev is what we have, in good and bad.
It's a shame that these games that have plenty of cool concepts in theory in practice end up being mind-bogglingly grindy even with cheats enabled and have absolutely no respect for the player's time. When the consistent feedback for years has been that the games are flatout too grindy and every recommendation is to not play without cheats it really should tell the dev something.
The only saving grace is that the actual content behind the grind-wall is mostly enjoyable and entertaining. The (nigh-)complete lack of competition for this kind of game also helps.
