States, applied by powers, have some duration time. It can be days of phases(day has 4 phases). After it burns out - you will need to reapply such state.
There are also modifiers. These special states are permanent and only can be replaced by other similar state. They normally applied after critical roll.

If you mean selecting the powers for the day, then there is no option to keep the current selection. That would be a good addition. I expect the power selection screen is still in an early placeholder stage and the UI and functionality for it will be improved in future updates.

What you can currently do, though, is to save your current power load out. then you can just load it each morning without having to re-select everything until you want to change it to something else.

Explaining the power loadout save feature. Right at the end of selecting them all, if you click on the numbers at the bottom of the screen, it saves that loadout. Then, when you go to the next morning to pick the loadout again, you can click that same number and it will put everything back in place. It's got 4 slots so you can pick a few different options for concentrating on particular people or tasks for that day. Still a little annoying and a bit limited, but it's also still barely past the tech demo stage.

im not quite sure how i feel about this game.. the characters looks a lot better then the 1st game.. but the ui and the gameplay loop feels so different.. while im sure its better.. its also so far apart that it takes me out of the game, and i feel its worse, because its so unfamiliar. i think for now ill still fiddle with the first game and maybe come back here a few more patches in.

One design decision I find kind of strange in the last version I played is the requirement to choose which of your powers you want to have available for the upcoming day every night. Why wouldn't ALL of my powers be available all the time? If I can only pick 2 or 3 then what's the point in developing the others?

IMO that part of the interface should just be scrapped entirely and you should just automatically have access to all of your powers all of the time. That would remove some of the unnecessary tedium while at the same time making it more rewarding to improve your character.

Alternatively you could have the option to pick your powers be an action rather than forced every night and it just keeps whatever you picked last time indefinitely if you don't change it. Maybe when you manage to increase your focus or something you're allowed to pick more powers? So in the beginning you might only have access to 2 or 3 powers. When you have 20 focus you can just have all powers accessible all the time.

Yep, 100% not abandoned. It just takes a year and a half per update that has about 15 minutes of playtime.
Let's hope no one is priming their boner..... or nub if they have been at it.
