Everything is circular so it is possible. But that is only with a indie developer. All the developers working with big studios won't take the risk and try to make something special but will instead rely on the try and true formula. The games in the past was special because everyone was experimenting to figure out the formula. Now everyone knows the formula the ones with the money don't want to experiment anymore.I believe it's a two-way trend. On one hand, I agree that industries, in general, have shifted towards prioritizing quantity over quality. However, on the other hand, audiences are becoming increasingly weary of repetitive content. In the realm of adult games, I'd argue that the quality of some titles has actually improved compared to, let's say, five years ago.
