My first playthrough of this update, I wasn't that impressed. But the replay in the memory room changed my mind. It certainly wasn't what anyone was expecting, but I suspect we'll get all that IRL content in the next update now that the virtual groundwork has been laid.

I'm just here to point out some contextual depth that people may have missed;

I wonder if Fujino/Inoda is going to use a similar method to break/reprogram Liz, Sugu and Kyo. I suspect so, given how little time is left and it's taken Inoda this long just to get Asuna.

If Fujino wanted the easy way, he should have taken it from the beginning and not from the end also because doing so the story becomes senseless, Suguha knows what Inoda does with Asuna, the most sensible thing is to turn harem into a trap for Inoda in which Suguha agrees to participate but Inoda does not notice that he has chosen the wrong person

I've looked at people's comments in both this thread and the Chinese forums. People do share certain similar feelings. Allow me to share some general views from the Chinese forums:

1. Great CGs:
As usual, Fujino provides hot CGs. This is what he is good at. Many people especially like the last scene.

2. Disgusting brainwash:
Many Chinese fans don't like this brainwash idea either. Understandable, maybe because people naturally hate this threatening thing and makes everyone vulnerable.

3. Ridiculous plot:
Compared to making CGs, Fujino is weak in designing story plots. Another example: Being a computer guy, Kirito doesn't know he should make a copy of his data and test within that copy, but just using the original? Come on. Maybe Kirito knows but Fujino doesn't know (or doesn't care).

4. Offensive content:
I've seen many Chinese fans feel offended by this update. For one, it is because the brainwash. For another, Fujino seems to be breaking his promises, making many people disappointed. It's interesting that people say their left and right brains fight each other, as the CGs are hot while the story is gross.

5. Just end:
People are saying that they would just treat future updates as MMD simulators, only to see the hot CGs and care less about the story. Makes sense, because now with brainwash, anything can be possible, so it's pointless to guess what will happen and what the endings might be.

6. Not Naruto:
Another interesting thing is that many Chinese fans don't like the idea of Naruto as the new project. Some say that Naruto isn't good for masturbation. This may influence Fujino's future plan.
Fujino was a mediocre writer and apparently will remain so, making a game in the Naruto setting will again be just a set of scenes with a bad plot, since there is literally hypnosis, illusions, sharingans and so on, he won't even have to try to write a well thought out NTR story, not that I care because I'm not going to play it anyway

influx of audience, set of subscriptions, growth of popularity, I think all this made him make this game for so long, he himself wrote that he wanted to make a short game, but everything did not go according to plan. I think he just reached a dead end and was not ready to come up with something else, so he decided to go this way.
but I agree that it is quite sad that all the previous events make almost no sense.

Does this even count as brainwashing since Asuna is letting the memory synchronization get corrupted willingly? I think it's a great update tbh. Last step was severing Kirito's connection, and Asuna was just as guilty as Inoda in doing that.

i see people flipping out about mind control and i think they missed the plot (or i did). They are rewriting Yui's memories and not Asuna's
Inoda is rewriting Asuna's memories too.

Why is Ayanami Rei there? Makina I can kinda understand since Fujino made a Chainsaw Man game but Rei is so random.

so asuna doesn't know that this can affect her personality in reality, for her it's just synchronization of memories for her daughter's AI, Inoda was just lucky that it can be done like this and that's all.

Is the version on f95 censored or uncensored. I need to know, because the one on kemono might be Chinese and have alot of bugs.
So maybe I might wait a bit

Memory rewriting really sucks. It leaves the same bad taste as the hypnosis story with Alice. I've been behind for a few updates now but now that I know this is where the story is headed, I am less eager than ever to actually catch up. I may have to skip the story altogether and just watch the gallery.
