This is an important point. I wonder why some people think Inoda loves Asuna.
An important way to look at Inoda's feeling toward Asuna is his blog, which can be seen as the place where Inoda writes what he truly thinks.
If you look at how Inoda describes and calls Asuna, it is only about lust and sex. I don't remember he gives a hint showing that he "loves" Asuna. Instead, Asuna is only an attractive female, cumdump, sex slave, etc. to him. Yes, maybe the word "wife" is used, but again, understand it within its context.
Don't get fooled by Inoda's words when he fucks Asuna. He says those things only to brainwash Asuna. Maybe He wants Asuna to love him, but not the other way around. All he cares are two things:
One, fuck Asuna.
Making Asuna love him is just another way to make sure that Asuna agrees to have sex with him (and do things that Asuna would otherwise not do, such as raw sex and impregnation).
Two, humiliate Kirito.
Inoda hates Kirito. Fucking Asuna is in part because Inoda always wants to have sex with beautiful girls. Meanwhile, Inoda especially wants to fuck Asuna because she is Kirito's girlfriend. So he not only wants to take way what Kirito has, but also humiliate him in any possible ways, such as brainwashing Asuna's love toward Kirito but still keeps their relationship (that's why I think Inoda will ask Asuna to remain to be Kirito's GF but cheat behind Kirito's back. It's a way for humiliation).
Considering Fujino said that he projects himself in the game as Inoda. Maybe two implications can be arrived:
1. I wonder how Fujino understands "love". If he thinks the ways Inoda treats Asuna is love, I feel sorry for his mindset.
2. I believe Fujino hates Kirito. Maybe not so obivious at the beginning of the game, but when Fujino becomes more Inoda-lized (see himself as Inoda, said so Fujino himself), I can feel that he hates Kirito.
Of course, I don't know about Fujino's thoughts, but on the whole, I agree. Over the past 2 years, Inoda's character has been shown quite well in the form of thoughts, dialogues, and his blog. Such a self-centered asshole, with the habits of a violent psychopath, is obviously incapable of love. I wonder if Fujino originally intended that the bully in his game would be so disgusting?
If you think about it, pay attention to how the situation with the main characters in the game has changed now. How Fujino made it easier for himself to further create a relationship between Asuna and Inoda.
Before the last update - Kirito would been Asuna lover, future husband, hero, savior, Yui father, the one who was with her through the most difficult time and after that, and Inoda was just a dude who aroused pity and a slight maternal instinct, due to the fact that Asuna misses Yui.
After this update - Kirito becomes a friend, a combat comrade, a man who supported Asuna while her true love Inoda disappeared for 2 years, a backup option, although she fell in love with Kirito, but he is only a temporary replacement for Inoda. And Inoda himself becomes true love, her first partner, Yui's father, the man who was her mainstay while she was in Aincrad, like a soldier who returned from the war and stirred up Asuna's old feelings.
If earlier, as a player, it was difficult for me to imagine how Fujino was going to completely destroy Asuna and Kirito's relationship, after all, there is a huge difference between Kirito and Inoda in what they matter for Asuna. (Perhaps even Fujino himself did not know how to adequately present this). But now all questions disappear. Fujino just swapped Kirito and Inoda in Asuna's head. Inoda is a true love and a future husband, and Kirito is a friend with whom she is a little in love, who causes pity and a desire to take care of. That's why Asuna said she didn't want to hurt him.(It would be symbolic if Kirito and Inoda also switched places in the status of Asuna.)
The memory change option is, of course, complete shit, but I can't help but applaud Fujino for making it easier for himself to write future events and endings of the game, and at the same time, practically, there is no need to think about the logic of what is happening.
For this reason, I believe that nothing prevents Kirito from creating an ending with Suguha. After all, if Kirito doesn't mean anything in Asuna's eyes now, what difference does it make who Kirito will be with in the future? But as the friend cp2020 wrote above, it is not known how much Fujino is involved in his own game and whether he really takes out his feelings on the characters? Maybe he really hates Kirito.
(One of Fujino's biggest mistakes in the game is Kirito and Asuna's relationship. Fujino, at the beginning of the game, was supposed to marry Kirito to Asuna, so NTR would have been more represented. Fujino chose a story with Aincrad but no ALO, so Asuna and Kirito's relationship never really took shape for the end. A weak move, in my opinion.)
