Let's talk about the endings we know of: 1) Kirito never discovers the cheating or 2) Kirito is OK with it. Which would you prefer?
Either way Kirito is being defeated by Inoda; there's no 'good' ending for him in either case. But ending 1 feels like even more of a defeat, since Kirito hasn't learned anything or grown at all, and there's no chance for him to make peace with the situation.
Ending 2 is still not a good ending since he'll have to share with Inoda, but I think it's the better choice. All Fujino has to do is make Kirito say something moronic (but completely in-character) like "As long as Asuna is happy then I'm happy too." Now they're officially in an open relationship, which means two great things:
-MMF threesomes where Asuna gets spitroasted (apparently this one happened already)
-Kirito is free to openly fuck around with other girls like Suguha and Sinon
