Another game that just rereleased with decent translation, Dyed in White, does this too. The main girl is inevitably stolen, but the MC ends up with the cute receptionist who was there for him all along. The dev even wrote in a deus ex machina where the MC meets 'an avatar of the goddess' on the street who fixes his broken cock, after the main girl 'destroys it with a groin kick'. I'm not sure if any of that was optional based on things I did (there were a couple of sidequests with the receptionist where you might be setting things up with her, or giving her a gift, etc) or if that ending was always scripted to end that way no matter what I did. It just seems like the dev made the endings too dark... and then right at the last scene gave the MC a sudden happy end with another girl. Or maybe he's only supposed to suffer while someone is trying to steal his girl, and once he loses her and accepts it, then he's permitted to find happiness elsewhere again.

And before you say 'stop talking about other games', this is relevant as it's a direct analogy of where NTR:O2 is heading. Kirito is inevitably losing Asuna, with Sugu/Sinon waiting for her to be out of the way before they step in to pick him up. Kirito is heading for a good end with one/both of them, even if he loses Asuna.

And as for Kirito and Asuna facing 'circumstances' that will coitus interruptus, I think it's time for Sugu/Sinon's subplot to matter again. After all, we know they're both draining him, both in game and IRL. It would be fun to see Kirito 'fail' with Asuna because of this sometime, instead of the opposite where thinking of Sugu gives him Inoda meat and energy out of nowhere.

The solo dev releases builds (usually) monthly on patreon/subscribestar. On the weeks where he does not release a new build there's usually a 'progress report', which is usually dropped on a monday, where he keeps us up to date with how the months progress is going. That way we can manage expectation about when the next build will be ready. Because he has missed his monthly deadlines a few times, but generally we don't get mad (because we understand his cirmcumstances and life happens) when we know he's still working to make the next update as good as he can.

He used to include a lot more spoilers in the reports, but as we approach the end of the game he's opted to be more vague so the update themselves are as enjoyable on release as possible.

Admit it, such endings seem refreshing. It is these dim rays of light that most of all sink into the soul. When playing "inevitable NTR", the player always knows what to expect - 2, maybe 3 endings - "Bad", "Very bad" and "True, but bad. And when the developer unexpectedly gives the MC (and the player) hope, and then at least some way out of a humiliating situation that won't even be a victory, but at least leaves the MC with a warm feeling of hope in the boundless darkness of NTR humiliation - such a game is usually memorable. And when they ask you to recommend some good game, you will remember this game, and not a cliched passing slag.

And it is better to know some possible endings, before you start to play. But this depends on Dungeon Master.
