Was there a known reason, announced or speculation, for the complete disappearance of this dev?
All I know is all the socials went poof

ran out of idiots who'd pay for him.
didn't the dev say after the game became abandoned that he didn't like how the magical world part turned out (or something like that) and was going to rewrite....probably became too much work so he just shut the whole thing down

and now, the only thing that is still up (account wise) is SubscribeStar and game is still on Steam

I also remember a kerfuffle because he wanted to change the design of the girls for artistic freedom or some other artsy-related excuse and we went from these very unique and beautiful models to some generic ass blonde girls. Completely fucking ruined everything and the blowback was pretty massive.

It was really, really dumb.

Yeah of all the devs who've managed to fuck things up this one is pretty high on the list. Like seriously the start was so strong all he had to do was just keep going, not rewrite everything forever.

Dunno if this was rewritten 2 or 3 times at this point before being completely abandoned but I kinda liked the original (before the one in this thread) version the most. With that engine the game had its own charm before being remade in generic DAZ which just doesn't truly work with a deeper fantasy setting (extreme realism just doesn't match well with fantasy). But the next remake where even the colors were remade with a group of blonde bimbos just ruined everything. It was clear the Dev was running on his last fumes.

I agree... DAZ doesn't work in a fantasy setting. For me personally, I don't care much for DAZ graphics in these games. I prefer HS/HS2. I just think the curves on characters look better. Maybe even more realistic.
As for Glace... <sigh> I think he got caught up in that "this can be better" loop and it was never good enough. I have been close to doing that myself a few times. Although, if I were going to abandon my games (never happen) I would shut down my subs. It doesn't seem right to keep collecting.

yup thats probably the case. i had a few interactions and personal responses to comments i made about the game back in the early days of its development but Glace always seemed like a cool guy! maybe the pressure of trying to keep a release schedule was too much for him and the fact that nothing ever lived up to his own high standards became his own worst enemy! personally i liked the game better when it was being done in HS but was willing to give the DAZ remake a chance, but then there were delays and then more changes... idk! it sucks that things turned out like they did but the trap of over perfection is the killer of a lot of artists (and not just in games)!
sometimes you dont need to be perfect to be a good game or work of art! in this case, i was captivated by the story he was originally telling and then was curious about what things he changed in the remake! i honestly started losing interest when he started changing character body proportions and then just decided to "wait and see" when the blonde revolution that everyone keeps mentioning came to pass!
sorry about the wall of text here but i just kinda got caught up in a nostalgia trip thinking back to the origins of this game! i miss those days!
...and yes, if you abandon a project the only honorable thing to do is to stop collecting on the subscribestar or whatever! its just kind of a scummy move tbh!

Not gonna lie, I don't really blame the dev in this particular point. It's not his fault he would like more money, but the subs that they are being just too passive to realize that the dev is milking them for months now. This has happened countless times already with several other 'once great' devs in that platform (ICSTOR to mention one for example who just got tired and went on a 2 year long hiatus but like 7000 people kept on paying him for his 'well-deserved' vacation).

If people are stupid, why is it on the dev to cut himself off a never-ending tap of money? Call me anything but if I were in that scenario I sure as hell wouldn't say no to FREE money (especially if its tens of thousands of dollars every month in some cases).

Well, that is certainly a way of looking at it. Although, I would respectfully disagree. Sure, making that kind of money and not providing any content might seem appealing to some people, I'd feel guilty about it. As a dev myself dealing with all sorts of daily life stuff and falling way behind on my releases, I constantly feel guilty just taking so long to complete my updates.

Retiring from my full time job at the end of this year will change that drastically (thankfully). But yeah... I couldn't just lie down on my subs and collect their money. Hey, I like Glace a lot. Super nice guy and a talented dev. But I'd prefer to see him either come back into the fold and be active again, or shut it all down... perhaps pass his project materials on to someone who might be interested in picking up where he left off (if he has no intention of working on it again).

And he'd probably get more money if he actually worked on the game, but he's just full of excuses after excuses and never keeps his word, he's a milker, just like the other parasite devs who do it.
