this is going well past the normal F95 update time & now I'm worried for whoever the update mod is, did they get trapped in all that snow we've gotten on their way to work & are they now trapped in their car with no heat, no food & no water.

they cant survive on sleazy porn games for long, they'll be dehydrated in no time !!

Here's a thought I have, I wonder if others feel the same.

Out of the four games, I preferred ToN the most, by a long way.

Now a lot of that is because I preferred the map, the girls and the story, but there is another feature that, for me, is absent from TGO and SotS.

When I discovered ToN, it was already complete, I bought the game and I could play it exactly how I wanted. If I just wanted a quick 10 minutes I could, if I wanted to spend an hour I could.

Also because the game was complete it was more of a challenge. With updates, I get a short packaged piece of gameplay and I'm told exactly how many things there are to do and find. I know if I find a chest there will be a chest key somewhere in the update. And because the updates are slithers of gameplay it is easy to watch a guide and work out exactly what you are missing.

But when you play the full game it is all open to you (albeit some areas don't get opened until you progress). When you find a chest key it can fit any of the chests so you may not open them in the same order that you do when you play updates. Indeed you might have two keys and five chests.

Ideally, I would have waited for TGO and SotS to complete before buying and playing - trouble is I'm addicted and can't resist the updates - wish I could, but I have no self-control.

TON is my fav and I agree for the most part. But the cons to playing the 100% TON were these:
1. I had to constant quickload after opening chests only to find out hey, I dont want this kamasutra page (for me it was the masseuse and alia I never cared about).
2. The frickin' recipes.
3. The hidden items

Farming cash was also annoying. I actually had to spend a lot of my time to get it, lol.

Each game (except TLE) has things that I think are better or worse than the others.
Like TGO had better recipe handling than ToN
ToN had a more likable protagonist (imo, they're not that different in personality, but a detective shouldn't be as much of a screw-off as a college kid)
SotS has an easier time dealing with money
TGO had more women I really liked, but ToN didn't have any girls I actively disliked.
So on and so forth.

That's right. The effect of surprise can greatly influence the perception of the game. You don’t know what the secrets are, you don’t know the number of scenes. The pioneer effect. The updates clearly set a goal - there are three scenes and a photo of a girl, and you just go looking. That's why I'm waiting for the finished version so that I don't have to search for certain scenes, but I want the scenes to work for me.(y)

Wish I had the self control to do that. How I’d express it is like this

LE and ToN - I played as games
TGO and SotS - I completed a series (50) of guided walkthroughs

I feel like you can get a decent understanding of the sentiment and popularity of a product in this space based on how long it takes to leak per update.

Its been how many days? I know the community is apathetic about this game but damn.

For contrast, Eternum is at the point it leaks almost immediately from the $200 tier.

Seems like month over month the sentiment for and popularity of SotS has been gradually declining

This is quite an interesting read
When TGO started it was released using an updater. Someone managed to hack the updater and thus the updates were immediately released.
Before the end of TGO the updater could no longer be hacked and there was minimal interest in the game and that spilled over to SotS. As far as I know, it is also distributed using an updater, but there is actually no attempt to hack it and the guys who participated in it are not in the thread at all.

It's definitely noticeable. I remember ToN would leak almost instantly and TGO was pretty fast. With this game, it's not unusual to take several days. I'm just wondering how long it will be until an update isn't leaked at all.

Why so exited(some of you folks)? This update is anyway just a "between". Just the side-stuff, means buying stupid gift cakes, teddy bears(o_O) and brainless flirts, will get some new content shit.
This game is a huge step down from the precursors.

Exactly.

I don’t know about ToN because it was already complete when I first discovered the NLT games.

But for TGO, the big difference was that the authentication was weaker and had been cracked. There was a hacked game that behaved as if you were logged in a a top tier supporter. So the second a new update was released the game would automatically download the update and install it. This meant that anyone with the freely available hacked version of the game could create an update and upload it here within minutes of it being released.

The user authentication has been changed for SotS and hasn’t been cracked (yet), so we have to rely on a paying supporter getting the update and uploading it here.
