Really like this game, good characters, animations and the story has been fine.
But my last save was from a year ago and I felt like since then there wasn't much new content?
I might be wrong but feels like the updates aren't that long since I'm sure most of the story was already there a year ago.

I'm pretty sure a year ago would mean you're still near the end of Book One. If that's true, that would explain why you don't see much more. Book One is finished, so if you're loading from near the end of that, you won't have much left at that point. At the very end of Book One, though, you're asked to make a save state (and name it) to continue on with Book Two. So make sure you've done that and then download Book Two if you haven't already. The saves from Book One are not compatible with Book Two, and vice versa. Oh, and if you have multiple playthroughs, you'll need to make a save state for each of those.
You have two choices for continuing with Book Two. The first is to start a brand-new game in Book Two and then walk through the choices tree (or w/e they call it) so the game knows what you picked in Book One. The second is to use the saved state from the end of Book One that I mentioned before, and then you'll just continue playing from there.
Yeah, I started a brand new save on Book One and played Book Two, but still remember a lot of stuff there from a year ago, like the current end of update scene of Lara crying, but I guess the new content might've happened before this scene.
Might be only me, but story-wise there wasn't much. Good game tho, will be waiting for the next updates.

IDK about your own saves, but I was a little ways behind until about a couple weeks ago. The saves I loaded were from January 2024, and I played through to the end of current content. I never saw the scene with Josie kissing in the MC's bed followed by Lara crying until the end of current content of Book Two. The only thing I can think of is that maybe you're confusing that scene with another game. In any case, that had never happened in any of my playthroughs through to January of last year; it absolutely was not there before in any of the past versions I've downloaded, but only showed up in this latest release.
