To be sure, this is an Uberpie decision. Not the entire team, though he will take their input. But at the end of the day, it's Uberpie, not the entire team.I get why TT team are considering to let the game die and sell what they have on Steam. You're getting 10k every month and then puff, no more money. But as I have said SS is the best platform for this type of game.
I agree with you that Uberpie could start a Subscribestar account... or just use the itch.io account he already has by bringing it up to date in order to start rebuilding the funding while deciding whether or not to actually rework what they have for a Steam release. It's going to take months, if not more than a year, for the rework based upon the history of how Uberpie works and the state of the game, as it stands. And then, there's no guarantee that Steam will accept it, anyway. It would make good sense, business and otherwise, to have income while whatever decision and work is being done.
There was talk a couple of years ago to submit the game for consideration on Steam when Uberpie had the game revamped and added the fake sandbox elements, but then decided not to... there had to be a reason at that time.
