I get why TT team are considering to let the game die and sell what they have on Steam. You're getting 10k every month and then puff, no more money. But as I have said SS is the best platform for this type of game.

To be sure, this is an Uberpie decision. Not the entire team, though he will take their input. But at the end of the day, it's Uberpie, not the entire team.

I agree with you that Uberpie could start a Subscribestar account... or just use the itch.io account he already has by bringing it up to date in order to start rebuilding the funding while deciding whether or not to actually rework what they have for a Steam release. It's going to take months, if not more than a year, for the rework based upon the history of how Uberpie works and the state of the game, as it stands. And then, there's no guarantee that Steam will accept it, anyway. It would make good sense, business and otherwise, to have income while whatever decision and work is being done.

There was talk a couple of years ago to submit the game for consideration on Steam when Uberpie had the game revamped and added the fake sandbox elements, but then decided not to... there had to be a reason at that time.

Agree in part, disagree in part. I would say more funders are at the mercy of their own misunderstanding of the concept of subscriptions / patronage - conflating it with purchasing contracts and binding agreements, rather than being at the mercy of developers.

Either way, that wasn't the topic - the off-topic-for-this-thread topic of the conversation was the discussion of developers dependency on platforms, regardless of which.

The only ones at fault here are devs because at the end of the day you're at Patreon's mercy if you use their platform.
Does your game have content that goes against Patreon stupid rules? You're fucked.
Use SS, Steam and other platforms if your game is not a vanilla soap opera.

I increasingly believe even games that fall under Patreon's TOS, should at the very least have a backup of subscribestar ready.

My main issue is not the question of rules violation, clearly we violated something, but rather,
the grossly unfair treatment of how those rules are applied for some devs and not others.

I was there from watching the page go from suspended to removed, and it all happened within about 48 hours tops.
I can safely say whatever Patreon took issue with, there was little to no chance of actually fixing any problems in such a short window regardless.

I am 99% sure Uberpie would have done whatever it took to keep the Patreon afloat - that includes conforming to whatever changes they asked.

I'm currently in talks with Uberpie about what comes next direction wise, I suppose they'll be an annoucement soon-ish when a decision on the direction to take has been reached.

However, I am in contact with other developers, and well... We talk.

But developers are humans and present information to others which normally put them in the best light while putting those who are in opposition to them, or a shared obstacle with the people in the conversation, gets different representation within those conversations. Unless you've seen the receipts, yourself, you're still going on hearsay.

I think you are doing yourself a disservice by continuing down this track in the thread and on this site by discussing this in public. As you can see in several posts, while I have been quite stern in regards to Uberpie's situation - I have also pushed back when people have not presented the information about Uberpie fairly as well.

Well this is shit. Been checking up periodically waiting for the new Priscilla content. Legit enjoyed going through this game seeing it develop. Hated the artstyle at first now it's one of my favourites after it grew on me. Just tried making a discord to check the channel and got my account banned for whatever reason oh well.

Uberpie's been nudgin' Patreon's panties with his snout for awhile, even after the initial review back in the first year of development. I mean, once you've been reviewed - you should make sure to not create any content that could even be close to violating Patreon's guidelines... or you should move to a different platform because you're gonna get caught sooner or later. Patreon is known for its very inconsistent enforcement.
