First of all, I want to once again express my heartfelt gratitude for your words of support.
They mean the world to us. As I’ve said before, we made a commitment to you and are determined to finish this project and release the game. You saved us last spring during the Patreon ban, and we’ll never forget that. I don’t want this to sound like a complaint, but the Steam ban has hit us much harder - exponentially harder - for a variety of reasons.
Now, to the news you’re likely most interested in: the game will now launch on Itch.io. Shortly after release, we’ll start distributing keys. However, they work a bit differently than on Steam, so we can’t send them out beforehand without having to explain to each recipient what’s happening. Because of this, we’ll prioritize distributing the keys as quickly as possible in the first few days after launch, but it might take some time to get through all of them.
If your total support over the past year is roughly equal to or greater than the price of the game on Itch.io, you’ll receive a key for free. You won’t have to pay again. And I’m standing by my word that even former top-tier donors will get a key, regardless of whether they’re still supporting us or not. We’re truly grateful to all of you.
Now, let me give you a quick update on the current state of development so you can stay in the loop and, hopefully, remain optimistic:
No, we’re not delaying a completely finished version of the game for any reason. We’re conducting final testing as planned, right up until the original intended Steam release date.
However, the ban has completely derailed our plans. We’ve had to spend (and are still spending) a significant amount of time setting up a new storefront and figuring out how to move forward under these circumstances. It’s been a major blow. We’re currently planning to release the game in the next few days, though it’s obvious we couldn’t meet the January 28th date. I’m sure you understand why.
In addition, we’ve filed several appeals with Steam (though “appeals” might be too strong a word - it’s more like attempts to show our willingness to revise or remove anything they find problematic). Unfortunately, we’re not optimistic about the outcome. We’ve also reached out to a few publishers who’ve managed to release much more controversial content on the Steam, but given our ban, we’re not expecting much from this route either.
At the same time, we’re exploring a few payment options and will try to get the game onto DLsite after release. However, it’s important to note that DLsite is a complex process, and success there is not guaranteed either.
MY NOTE: a series of unfortunate events, sadly. With the main writer gone (perhaps due to creative differences, i dont know) and with the Steam ban, I do feel bad for UberPie and the team. Let's see if we will get an update today or in the upcoming days.
