Maybe they lose the bonus if they're broken?

It's a bug.
They are not meant to be broken. Not yet anyway...

Dont read too much into stuff like this people. This in an unfinished game made by two people who did not made games before.
Take in the possibility that it could be a simple bug and not some mysterious hidden perk.

When your armor gets hit too much and loses his armor bonus.

I know but helmet or gauntlets dont have any combat value. Just a checkbox for warlock and spider so far I've seen. So it does not get broken in combat.

This is wrong. Helmets and gauntlets can be hit by head and wrist shots, respectively, and they lose their bonuses while broken. They're not auto-repaired after battle, which I think is the intention, so I let them know.

If that's the case, there must be a variable into the save which track if an item has been broken or not. Gonna look into it.

I receive this window:

No worries, try opening the TalesOfAndrogyny.jar in TalesOfAndrogyny/Contents/Resources/

Let us know if that worked.
