Downloading the correct version, then downloading the updated .jar and replacing the old one with the new one is bullshit and not worth it?
We live in a plug and play era where anything beyond "download and click" is "bullshit and not worth it" for a lot of people.
Makes me think of a particular Terry A. Davis quote.

Yeah, i remember people being hopeful about the next generation and how "tech savvy they are going to be", fast forward 20 years to the current day and... yeah, the less i say the better.
On a side note, i never thought i'd have the sobering realisation of sounding like an old fuddy-duddy on a pirate porn game forum but hey, here we are.

Phah! Youngster speaking. I had 14,4 kbps analog modem - and it was a leap through for my dad's 300 Baud modem. (don't google what "Baud" means - it's so fast that you could send a smiley face at reasonable speed)
