Cage Key IIRC is a Achievements Bonus you can set when creating a character. Merchant is intended to only really be used BEFORE you start becoming a slut, due to how much she'll hamper you.

Avoid checking her shop after getting Anal Addict 3, and you can avoid caging in the Brothel by either not peeking on the Madam and the Merchant. If you do, do not choose to "Make it up to them", then the Merchant wont cage you.
