To be fair, the vast majority of rants I see in threads on here are from "vanilla" folks, who are against NTR, but in general aggainst anything that deviates from: chad MC who fucks everything that moves and is allowed to do to NPCs whatever he pleases (rape, humilitaion, blackmail, etc...)
It's both.
The problem is, as humans, we're far more apt to notice (and be annoyed by) things we disagree with than we are the things we agree with or don't care about.
If you pay attention, you'll constantly notice NTR fans wandering into games that don't have it (or which would be utterly ruined by having it), and will push to have it added, or otherwise complain that they're not interested in the game without it. They can absolutely be as irritating in their own way as the anti-NTR people who will go into threads for blatantly NTR-themed games and rant about how NTR is terrible. You'll also notice them popping into game threads that are marked for netorare complaining that the game doesn't have NTR and the tag should be removed, because the game doesn't meet their personal definition of what NTR should be.
The other problem is, it's reciprocal. NTR supporters will trigger the NTR haters, which in turn will trigger the NTR-hater haters, and a simple question of whether or not a game has NTR will devolve into a shit-flinging argument over the technical definition of NTR and whether or not something counts as NTR, with people insulting anyone who disagrees with their take on things, and then ultimately the mods have to wade in and delete like 80 comments.
And something like 90% of the problem would probably be solved if the site had a better tagging system, or if games just put "NTR is Unavoidable" or "This game will never have NTR" in the opening post,
and then stuck to that. Some of the most fiery arguments and complaints about NTR tend to come in games that start out with no NTR or hint that there's ever going to be any, and then it gets dropped into like the 6th update with no real warning and no way to avoid it. Or where a dev outright says early on that they'll never add NTR, and then they add it later like they're springing their trap card.
Sorry I'll stop here, but this is the 4th thread in a row when I go in looking for info and all I read is anti-NTR whining in games that, at least officially (tags), don't have any.
This is arguably why the site needs a better tagging system. Or, at least, more nuanced tags to apply to more controversial content (which NTR is arguably the #1 candidate for).
Basically, split the tag into one tag that can be used by NTR fans to deliberately search for NTR games they want to play, and have another tag for warning people who don't want to see potential love interests (or other characters in general) fucking other people beyond the MC, so they can block or filter out those games. And then everyone needs to be really responsible about using those tags correctly and maintaining them.
Ambiguity is the main reason why 90% of these arguments start. If the ambiguity was dramatically reduced, you'd still have idiots (on both sides) whining, but for the most part the majority of posters would probably settle down.
