Oh now this is a surprise, but a welcome one. I remember going through this using MTL, and still finding it rather enjoyable. Though just cheating to win after a point, due to how difficult it can be to win boss fights when you can't consistently figure out the counters.

Seeing all of Claire's scenes will impact act 4, so you have until the end of act 3 to max your erosion. If you don't rush acts 2 & 3 and average 1-2 traps per run you should be able to achieve that with plenty of time to spare.

You should gain 5 erosion per trap/realm visit and i've had nest runs that had a trap on each floor. But in the end RNG is RNG.
1st Scene - 10 erosion (visit 2 traps)
2nd Scene - 30 erosion (visit 6 traps)
3rd Scene - 50 erosion (visit 10 traps)
4th Scene - 70 erosion (visit 14 traps)

It's not pristine, but it's more than good enough to enjoy the game. There were only a few points where I said "that doesn't look right", and they were usually during info dumps. I was also using an earlier version of the patch.
