I don't understand this new direction... They made so many improvements with v0.2, only to then make this massive change. It made more sense to conquer and keep territories and advance at your own pace (and this system still needed polishing). But we were able to use the breeding mechanic to get the monsters we were missing and organize the army, level them up and then attack when we wanted. Now it's more like "go with what you get along the way". Even from a story perspective it doesn't make sense.

In my first and only run I had a strat that was kicking ass by the 3rd node, but because of how many nodes it takes to get to the end, and that there isn't an option to decline the monsters the game forces you to have, every wave of monsters I had took over 20 seconds to come out so I just up and lost. It really feels like I'm just not even supporting the same game. It's kinda heartbreaking.

I would definitely say he's already in burn out based on the fact he restructured the entire game without much of a given reason?

There is a reason, FLASH GOT SHUTDOWN because its security was ass. Also flash was not the best engine for the game, it limited too much what the dev wanted to do. So i wouldnt say its without reason, there clearly is big reason why to change the engine. Then there was people that promised to make the switch but suddenly vanishing into thin air.

For the 2nd time now, not that restructure. The one that JUST happened, where he changed it from what it was to the rogue like mess that the current version is.

If you dont like it then dont play the game....... move on and find something else to play. The dev isnt probably reading this thread so your complaints goes to nowhere.

Dog, the game has been active development for 6 years(?). And for those entire 6 years the game was a certain way, it played a certain way, it was a chosen genre of game. Now, after those 6 years of work, we've completely shifted gears to a completely different genre, a completely different gameplay loop, a completely different game.

People PAID for this. This isn't very much a "erm, if you don't like it, dont play it" moment, it's more like we were all here supporting a game that (from my understanding) won't get finished. We've sliced the community of people that loved your game into people that like roguelikes and people that don't.

And it's not like I hate roguelikes, I have a crap ton that I love, it's the out of left field right turn to a gameplay loop that is completely different. We've gone from a chill game that was taking inspiration from risk and other strategy/simulation games to a mindless "play until you get lucky" roguelike.

I haven't paid shit, if you have, no one forced you to do it. I have waited all these years if the game would be completed. It will probably be completed at somepoint. How long does it take? Who knows and i'm not sad if it isn't ever completed.
Btw you broke one rule of the site but i bet you don't even know which.

It seems the main point I brought up went completely unread, so whatever ig.

And I'm sure if it's that vital of a rule a mod will say something about it. Very interesting way to phrase that sentence though.

You're right obviously.
But the point this guy makes is that some people paid for a particular product, which changes very much during development.

Imagine you bought racing simulator, Gran Turismo for example. You like simulators, you bought wheel and gear and shit.
Now the dev throws an update that adds guns to add to your cars and racing is no longer this relevant, now you can wreck other players like Carmageddon. You didn't pay for this, you wanted racing sim.

Nobody forced you to buy it tho...

Progress Update

Uploading Beta version 0.4 for our Patreon today. This version introduces the Status mechanic, though without UI indicators, as I feel there's no need to refine this design further.
I need to announce that, after playtesting, we will be reverting to the original gameplay design (pre-Slay the Spire node map). I believe this approach has reached a dead end. Allow me to explain my reasoning below...
The new design feels overly brainy and disrupts the pacing. When people play this game, they're in a state of 70–95% horniness and 30–5% boredom. The pacing needs to align with the rhythm of our blood flow, if you catch my drift ^O^. Our goal is to solve two main problems: horniness and boredom. But the more I analyze it, the weight leans heavily—81% horniness, 19% boredom.
Our main motivation for this pivot was to lower our "porn grade" from 80 to 73, while increasing fun from 65 to 87. However, after extensive playtesting, I'm less confident in achieving either.
On the fun side, the new design barely reaches 40 at best. To push it from 40 to 87, I estimate it would take five months just to reach 58, and another four months to climb from 58 to 70. Balancing this is beyond my tiny brain's capacity.
As for the porn aspect, I've tried, but without a substantial amount of new graphical assets, reworking game flow, and redesigning transitions and pacing, I just can't make it work. The only content I feel we should focus more on is thrive scenes.
My apology for wasted yet another a month and a half. Sometimes, you just don't know until you try. But through this experiment, I now have a much clearer vision of what we need to enhance our original gameplay—and we're already working on it. I’ll share the final concept of our game in two days.
