I think it's about that time again where I ask if the art pack got updated at all? I'm not in the discord (and don't want to be) so I'm out of any possible loop on that

As far as i can tell, it seems everything was abandoned, the last update on the blog is form 2023: "V3 will come out whether you like it or not." That aged well.

That's an agreeable sentiment. I personally just hope it comes out sooner than later. My excitement for the game numbed over the years but I feel like it's better that way.
I wish I could relay info here again but the more visible parts of development seem to have been exhausted, now it's just the writing that's left and MD doesn't like to spoil things.
Honestly even if the update is out i woulnd't even be excited about it, you would say why? well it woulnd't be worth the wait even if it was quite sizeable because we would need to wait 6 more years for the next one lol.

I know im being a doomer but its the literall truth we will never see the other parts of the maps or more monsters unfortunately, man such wasted potential i love this game so much but the flame of hope has long been extinguished..

Man, I really need to vent here. I'll try to stay away from the obvious like "this game is unique" or "what a waste," but I can't promise anything. I think the "problem" (for those who loved this game) is much bigger than it seems.

This game nails everything it sets out to do: exploration, feral content, characters, strangeness, etc. The world feels alive and immersive. I believe everyone who played had a unique and memorable experience, and the same goes for me.

I've been here since the very beginning, more than five years ago. It was by playing this game that I truly discovered this passion for teratophilia and feral themes. However, what was truly memorable was the character Vuisul. I found her randomly, talked to her, discovered more about her story, and we had "shenanigans." I remember she sparked very strong feelings in me with those dialogues about loneliness. I specifically remember the choice you have when you sleep with her to touch her paw—I became completely immersed in her story and situation. I remember immediately thinking, "I have to help her and have her as my wife," "there must be some kind of antidote, perhaps in the neighboring map," "I will surely find it and come back to talk to her."

After a few hours or days, I discovered there was nothing in-game yet to save her; her story didn't have a continuation yet, the supposed neighboring map wasn't accessible yet, etc. However, I was already hooked. It was the most unique experience and certainly one of the best I've ever had, and from then on, I became a huge fan.

Many were hoping for an update or minimal news. Just last year, we even had some leaks from a member of this forum about Teraurge, and even though it was already 4 or 5 years old (at that time), it completely reignited my flame. In fact, it never went out; I always followed the thread.

I won't discuss whether the update will come or if it's real. To me, that's not the point. As I said, there is a gigantic problem for fans, and it's not "just" the delay.

The author has been on a "hiatus" (let's put it that way) for six years. The question is: Does the author of Teraurge still exist? Let's assume they really still work on the game, as they say, and do it as a hobby, and that the game will eventually be updated. But is the author still the same person? Do the stories from six years ago still exist? Do they still consider them? Do they still intend to finish them? If the update comes out one day (and I hope it does), when I meet Vuisul again and she has a continuation of her story, will it be an epic reunion, or will I feel a complete disconnection? To be honest, I think the character will simply be different.

And what about the game in general? As I said, it gets everything right: RPG, smut, romance. Will it stay that way? Or will the "essence" have been lost along with the time?

I'll be honest: I wouldn't doubt that the author of Teraurge is taking so long to update the game out of pure "fear," you know? They created something unique that we don't even have in other games of other genres. A colossal insecurity wouldn't be unthinkable. (Btw, this is pure speculation from my head, lol.)

Maybe I wish Teraurge had never existed in the first place. Never having played this game and never having fallen in love with this work would be a loss, but it would be less painful than the project's current state. For some reason, it's in an infinite hiatus, but even if it gets updated, it might have become something completely different. Even if it is released with the same standard of quality, maybe we will never see the "ending" of characters we love so much. I can't put into words how sad that is.

I am genuinely depressed after reaching this conclusion. It was said several times: "the game will be released when it's ready" (or something like that). If we were to blindly believe that, the game would come out at some point, but that doesn't mean much now.

As a matter of curiosity, I am 24 years old. That means one-quarter of my life has been spent waiting for this game.

This doesn't mean my expectations have to be met or anything like that. I'm also not here for something like "what an injustice, I'm so sad." I think the only thing I'd really like is transparency from the author, you know? At least like it was back when the blog was updated. Tell me what is happening, what your plans are for the future, etc.

If I'm not mistaken, at some point, the author said money was a problem, something like: "if the value reaches X, I'll quit my job and focus on the game" (I might be confusing and merging information). But the point is: create a Patreon or a specific subscription for the game, where there won't be excuses like "it's for my art and streams." Run polls, I don't know. At this point, I'm just sad. This game is basically a piece of my life. It's dying or maybe it's already dead, and I don't even know why.

You know, On top of Creativity, this is a Passion Porn project.
What's they all have in common? They all die easily, especially as you grow older.
A passion porn game goes on "hiatus" for 6 years? I don't think any dev would still have it in them, even if they wish to return.

If Meandraco doesn't wanna carry the baggage from his audiences of "being transparent", there's nothing you can do. He doesn't have the "obligation" to be transparent, he doesn't owe you anything.
Not sure why so many ppl here still cling to the dev, either coping for "new update anytime now", or hating him for taking money without delivering.
As sad as it feels, there'll be many loses you have to deal with, this is just one of them.

BTW, Patreon monthly updates and Pay to win polls kill Game artistic integrity.

That's what I'm saying, it's basically abandoned, I don't wait for the update anymore, I still have it saved just in case but like you said is not the first or last time that a porn game has simply been abandoned, nor will it be the last. These are not large dev teams, these are indie most of the time single devs.

What no alien sex does to a man

Look I get it Teraurge caused my freaky monster awakening too but 6 years later or whatever and people are now getting into conspiracy theories about it all. Not trying to shit on you, but there's a wide world of lewd games out there man. All the people still here are going to play the hypothetical update, including you, and all the people who think this is all as sham at this point, anyway should it ever come out. So why worry about it. Adopt the devs attitude. They clearly aren't bothered with time constraints or any kind of obligation, nor should they be really.

I picture a day I boot up this site and say "oh shit a teraurge update? hell yeah" from seeing it randomly pop up on the latest updates page. And then a flood of comments probably being unsatisfied with it given how long it took because expectations are gonna be way out of proportion

I agree overall. There are indeed a wide world of lewd games out there..... however. It ain't all that wide of a world when it comes to this type of lewd. Those of us in here are a special breed. That wish to breed with special things. I don't want regular lewd games! I want games that make me question myself! When I'm done firing off a few knuckle children. And that post nut clarity kicks in. I should be able to turn to that screen. And have a mini come to Jesus moment about how I got here. The moment I gaze upon the "female" I just happily yanked it to. I need to be happy, horny, and confused.

I kinda get multiple points of view; The game has taken a lot of time in development in which people have been fully supporting it and to an extent have the right to complain (Without going overboard). Is hard to believe the game isn't cancel seeing how little news we receive, which this year have been none. If this game gets canceled, we are going to lost one of the most unique games in the site.

But at the end of the day, I am just glad to know Meandraco haven't give up yet and is working in a snail pace, I prefer the game releasing late than never doing so, but not gonna lie, all the waiting and lack of news makes me kinda worried... n_n"

I think it's understandable to be upset and perfectly fine. It's a very loved project that doesn't get a whole lot of communication, which is something really all any of us want. Even if it's something as small as saying "I have only *thought* of one new encounter or location."
But it's important to not harass or attack Meandraco because at the end of the day, it his hobby and project. Someday V3 may come out, or maybe it will be abandoned. Who knows.

Now thankfully I found out about Teraurge like 6 months ago and haven't had to wait years like you guys, but I have forced myself to be prepared for it based off what I have seen.

I really appreciate the world and story of these characters and want to see it fully realized as well.

And maybe someday someone will get inspired to make a similar game with just as much love and care, especially if the inspiration comes from Teraurge.

As long as we know that the game is still in development, all is fine for me. I want to see more of this game, because it has such a wonderful alien atmosphere, which I haven't seen in other games. And I also like the options to switch off parts of it if you dislike them. This is how you make a good game.
