Thank you for the comment.
However, I don't plan on censoring anything. Not unless I am presented with a compelling argument that changes my view point. I understand the contention around using such a word. Being white myself, it is not one I would have a protagonist say in my writing, and it is especially not a word I would say IRL. Heck, I don't even feel it is my place to depict black characters using that word. Why do I have Sydney say it for her "joke" then? Because she is a villain. She's not a good guy. She is essetially a 4-chan esque internet troll. You're not supposed to come away from her interactions thinking that she has good morals. Knowing all that about her, why would Sydney self-censor? She is attempting to be provocative and offend/piss Tiffany off. Wether you feel offended as the player is up to you, but I make a point of Tiffany calling her out on it. I also made a point for it to be used in a completely out of context manner between two white characters where it didn't even make sense as an insult. It is the only instance of the word written into the game, and it is used to further characterise Sydney as an antagonistic, piece of shit, troll. I don't plan on using it liberally. And I don't have any current plans to use it again unless I can think of a good reason.
Also, this is a hardcore, heavily fetishized, porn game. I use just about every other curse/derogatory word as well as depict quite a lot of gratuitously lewd, grey-area content that many would frown upon. Given this context, it seems odd of me to censor a word used by antagonists to provoke the protagonist/player? I appreciate that it is the only instance of a racially charged slur. But again, considering that it was not used in a racially charged context, the mere utterance of the word by a character shouldn't, imo, automatically qualify it's usage as one in this instance here.
I obviously don't condone/support racism. Nor do I intend on featuring it as a theme of my game, espeically during interracial scenes. In the same vein, just because the southern gal character "Debra" has a confederate flag pattern on her thong (which is frequently torn to pieces in the game btw), does not mean I condone/support confederate view points. I just figured it would be reasonable that a character based on that kind of stereotype, would wear something like that with a misguided sense of pride. But considering the type of content I am making, I really shouldn't have to make it clear that I don't actually condone or support a good 95% of the acts depicted in my game. It's all just there for entertainment purposes. I can't make something that will appeal to or be agreed upon by everyone as "good taste". Where reasonable, I will try to make it possible to enable specific types of content as I have done so already. But I don't think it is worth having a "censor slurs" option to satisfy one word. This is a "beyond X rated" game for adults, after all.
v0.10
v0.10 will add the scene gallery (everything will unlock when beating the game - wherever the current version stops) alongside some autosave slots, and a quicksave slot. this should help alleviate some of these problems.
