dang this looks interesting. Before I dive in though... I need to know if you get buttraped by dudes/futas or forced to transform into female.. . . .
You can play the game and stay 100% a dude. Although, from what I can tell, there isn't really any content to find that is conducive to staying a man, as sexing folks up seems to always add Taint, which slowly transforms ya into a lady.

There actually ARE a couple of characters in the game who won't change you.
The game was actually designed with the intent to let players avoid types of content they might not otherwise enjoy. With the exception of a little content with Azumi (She's a true hermaphrodite), I can't think of any non-game ending content that you can't avoid if you're careful.

I agree.
When I set out to tell this tale, I wanted to ensure it was the kind of story that even if you pulled the sexual content out of it, the story would still be enjoyable in it's own right. I'm one of those people who doesn't really enjoy the porn unless the story that goes with it is good as well.
After all, any tale worth telling is worth telling well. Several people have said in the past "Played for the porn, stayed for the story," Higher praise I have rarely heard.

If you don't care for the art, it can be removed from the game without breaking it, there are instructions with the game for how it's done. Alternately, if you have other images you'd rather see in the game, all you need to do is rename those images and use them to replace the current ones (Name being case sensitive, and file extension needs to be the same.)

The Allure of Wanton Cove has never had images other than the ones that are currently in it.
In the past I have used real images in some of my projects, however with my deciding to do this as my full time job, I felt it was important that I commission art instead to avoid any potential misunderstandings down the road.

Can you give a little more detail? The game is a html file, you should be able to simply double click it to open the game in your browser.

Early on in the thread you mentioned being eventually able to play through the main story without transforming. And it sounds like that's true now per the posts above. But will there eventually be ways of sexing up all/most the ladies without being gender-bent? This sounds like something I'd like to play, as I love good writing, and I can live with certain kinds of MC transformation (becoming MORE manly, as it were, you should see my MCs in Fenoxo's games) but I can't tolerate M2F MC even a little bit. I know I can avoid the sex, but...
If not, I understand of course. Can't please everybody. I've only found a few games on TFGamesSite I could play, unfortunately for me, since it's a good community with a LOT of content.

Sexing up the ladies, if done in moderation, is fairly safe. See, the thing with taint is that it builds on itself over time. So once you start acquiring it, it tends to become a slippery slope. The trick to banging most the girls in the game without being massively transformed is to hold off until day 8-9, then try to keep your taint under 20-25 (Can't remember the exact number off hand.) And managing to stay under a certain level DOES allow for an ending where you end up more, . . . . generously endowed.
Another option would be to make a small pledge to get the cheat build of the game. The cheat build allows you to change your stats at will. I've heard of people purposely dropping their taint stat WAY into the negatives just so they can bang everything in sight without risk of encountering the M2F content.
And on a side note, Azumi is the only person on the island who you can have sex with without generating ANY taint.

I would suggest that, since this is a story-focused game it would make the game all the better if there were an in-story method of controlling it. Folks who like M2F will obviously avoid that, and it might open it up to a greater audience. But perhaps I'm overestimating the numbers of people who are like me.

As for finding a wider audience, that's what I'm doing with my other project, Inheritance. In that one, while I AM including TF content, everything in the game is optional. Every person you meet, you can be mean to them, nice to them, or anywhere in between. You can also treat everyone completely professionally, as master to slave, be friendly, or romance nearly anyone in the game (Not that there are a lot of people in the game just yet. At present only seven with meaningful interactions, and a couple more with just placeholder content.) If you're looking for something story and relationship driven, but having complete control over any transformation content, you'd likely enjoy that one. Here's a link if you're interested:

Also, some of the scenes are a little hard to find in that build, but the next one that will go free I took the time to unlock nearly all of the content in the game, so there's scenes popping up all over the place.

AIF (especially vanilla-ish AIF) has really been struggling in recent years. I hope it makes a comeback. I'm very much a fan of point-and-click Twine/Sugarcube as a middle ground between the text-parser/ADRIFT days and graphics-heavy engines like Ren'py.

That's one of the reasons I'm putting so much into art for Inheritance. I'm a writer, but that doesn't mean I can't work in some nice art to supplement the writing. :closedeyesmile:

Fun Tip: Play some music from a dark horror game. I personally used Silent Hill for this. It adds to the experience.

"I feel that most games on this site can be broadly put into two categories. Porn with game elements, and games with porn elements. I would say this fits into the latter category. The writing in general, the setting, and the atmosphere of the game are excellent. It feels very Lovecraftian. Seriously, this game is creepy from the get go, and the tension that it creates really works. The random scenes generally help keep the tension high, and atmosphere thick. The character work could be a bit better. To be clear, some characters get a lot of love, but others feel like little more a click through dialouge to gather clues. It's that contrast that makes me even write this criticism.
On to the TF. There seems to be one central TF in the game, and it is painfully slow... in a very good way. You could railroad your way through it if you really want to, but I get the feeling that once there is a path to a more satisfactory ending it is the kind of thing that will happen over time, and you will struggle against it if you want to enjoy the content. This seems fitting, as characters tend to lose their minds in Lovecraftian fiction, while here we have our main character losing their body and mind. The descriptions of the TF as they occur range from good to great. Unfortunately, if you want to be reminded of what you look like, the "you" link displays a pretty bare bones description of your current form. It's not a deal breaker, and I know it is a pain to write a bit of code to reflect those dynamic changes in a somewhat more literary format, but it is a feature I look for in TF games."
