This is infuriating, and a terrible way to attempt to show someone being interrupted.the auto continue dialogue was intentional. it should give the impression that someone gets interrupted midsentence.
There were several places where I missed dialogue due to getting momentarily distracted and not noticing it had even happened. There were several more where it advanced so quickly that I didn't even have time to register who was talking, much less what they were trying to say.
If you're trying to show that someone is being interrupted, just end the dialogue abruptly with an em dash.
For instance:
YOU: "the auto continue dialogue was intentional. it should give the impression that someone gets interrupted midsentence.
I will try to —"
ME: "No, that's dumb, don't do that please."
