Yeah, I really think uploaders should specify that "saves before" certain versions require a restart and not just a generic message. Leave something less specific up for too long and people won't know / remember whether that's new or not. It's especially less clear when the developer doesn't say that specifically in a changelog. I've had to search a thread before to find out whether updates were required, exactly because an OP left a message up for several versions in a row. My initial thought was, "Eh? There's no way we have to restart again already, is there?!"

I'll try uploading the update on the 29th and see if people that bought it are able to get the new update.

I don't know if you got any confirmation yet, but the Itch desktop app (at least) can download/install it just fine.

Just found this game and enjoyed the remastered intro graphics. But then it switched to the old design and I can't bring myself to keep going.
About how long is it in the old graphics before it gets good again?
