Are you the only one developing both games TBTT and The Better Deal?
No. I think it's pretty clear the developer of these games is zegamez. You can get all the information from the first page of this thread.

Wow, great update, Ze-gam-eZ! This update's changelog reads like a restaurant menu with a variety of dishes to suit every taste.
This is my dish:
"Riley-Submissive dynamics with Anal-only Riley path for true connoisseurs."
Yummy! :Kappa:

As much as I like Riley, I think "The Beauty And The Thug" is a really good distraction until the development of "The Better Deal" continues.
The Beauty and the Thug is also a great game, but my fifth mouse is more grateful to VN games. :sneaky:

This fucking pisses me off. Why the hell do authors push so much for relationships? Can't just Riley bang everything no strings attached instead of focusing on one of these comically idiotic relationships? As much as I like the animations and overall visuals I'll probably go for no sex as my main playthrough instead of choosing one of these "romances" and hope that the story in this "story-focused" game finally picks up.

Now I wouldn't mind the need to choose if the romances were actually good (sure, I wouldn't play hetero romances as female protagonist anyway, but I would at least understand it), but they are not.

You suggest that Riley should act like someone who just wants some sex and no strings attached. There are some minor paths that you can use to make Riley act like that, especially when you want to have you fun with Desmond or Terry. Other characters are different and aiming for long term relationship, which isn't completely crazy even for a porn game.
I think zegamez had to make the hard decision to keep the game short to not overload his workload and not extend certain paths, like the ones I mentioned. Surely, it's possible to make the game more like that, but not possible when having a quick adventure or story to tell.
Having a romance is quite common in adult novels, although most of them offer the harem option. To keep a little bit of recognizability of her character traits and don't make her completely user-defined, this path isn't an option. You don't play yourself, you guide the female main protagonist.

Regarding the quality of the romance characters:
I think it's hard for a developer to get the perfect match for any kind of player. More characters would be possible, but would also stretch the game. More time to develop a slow, steady relationship with a character, would also stretch the game. This again would increase the development time. If you say, you want to create a quick, entertaining story, that offers a lot of decisions to create a different experience instead when playing again, then it's really, really difficult to achieve something like that. It's like demanding the game should be more like Desert Stalker, but you want to be able to finish the game within 3 hours (when it's complete).

That's how I think about it. I know certain parts could be executed better. I think the developer is aware of that, too. If there would be more time and ressources to make The Better Deal to a better (long term) experience, he would have done it. I am sure.

So author mantioned somewhere it's supposed to be a short story? I didn't know that. Another reason to not push relationships that much. Relationships take time, a lot of it in many cases. But you already managed to break a few hearths in two days they know each other, it's ridiculous. It reminds me of middle school when girl came to me "Hi, I like you. Will you be my boyfriend?" Like seriously, we may be in the same class for couple years but we don't really know each other at all, why putting a lable on us, let's go on a couple dates first.

Besides that, if it's supposed to be short story-focused game, then maybe focus on the story more and less on relationships first? Kind of develop the relationships alongside the story and add erotic content gradually? Now I don't know how patient players of this game are, how much build-up they are able to take or if they need banging first thing in the morning, but whatever.

And you don't really need harem option (is there even female protagonist harem game anywhere?), but you should be able to fool with multiple people before you decide who you want. That's how it is in other romance or dating sim games like Intertwined or Being a DIK.

In any case I chose Melissa for my main playthrough. I like lesbian D/s relationships as long as the one I play is submissive and that one seems to be fun.

Your comment shows you're looking for harem games. There are thousands out there. Keep looking.

It was already discussed long time ago. Zegamez mentioned that he is aware about these circumstances and he still decided to do it that way to get some entertaining visuals in the short period of gameplay. It is more realistic to keep it more slow and steady, but then you have those people who complain that there is not enough naughty stuff in the game.

I think if you play the game, you will notice that the story telling isn't dead serious. It's focussed to be entertaining and still give you a mystery to solve, a reason to explore the different paths. Basically everything you said was already considered in the past, but as I stated in my previous post, what you get is what was possible within the limits of the developer.

Report 2025-14 – Back to The Better Deal

New report !
Yeah, I honestly don't understand why the gog thing is going so lame.

To be fair, Flip did a bit more marketing for it than you. If I am not mistaken, gog is not yet in the OP e.g. But still it should be more already.

I especially created a gog account for Summer and Riley. So let's just hope it gets more traction soon.

Link is here btw
