And that when some Indie Devs when they do realize that they aren't having fun stuff happen or the people supporting them are finding updates boring then start trying to put content in which works well at bringing back the flame to full force. But it quickly dies behind the scenes as most implement this all poorly since stuff they attempt to add later on conflicts with the previous things and have to spend time reworking it all. As a result they spend a lot more time on doing it than they would have if they didn't do the poorly thought out rush job and just did it all thought out before hand or just did the background foundation work to begin with.
Aka they start putting out content with shaky foundation which results in more costs overall in time and effort to fix or replace later on.

It's also why I personally believe a lot of HTML games on here die although they have a great amount of content and such. Their foundations are poorly made and would take months to fix at least. (also feature creep)

Ive been saying it for years, if you want to make a game with a public proof of concept, you disappear immediately after the proof of concept is released and gets the needed feedback. Its suicide to try and keep the public interested in anything beyond that point.
One of the biggest games that comes to mind that tried to do this was Starbound. And look at what it is now, a barely barebones mess thats filled with failed potential. (though admittedly the constant dev revolving door didnt help. and the not paying staff.. and.. yeah it had a lot of problems)
