I'm not going to comment on how different Carla's personality is in the harem version and the NTR version, since I haven't played the second one (and I won't).

Personally I would prefer that Carla and Paul had a normal relationship (that it implies that they have had sex with each other doesn't bother me), and that, after discovering that he is cheating on her (again), she started a relationship with the MC. The father of the child isn't particularly relevant to me with these premises (the child could be Paul's, or the MC's, although certainly, if we think about what most fans of the harem genre like, the best option is that she is pregnant by the MC)



Well, you are certainly somewhat right. After replaying the game, I think Carla's personality and behaviur is better than my first impression (in fact, a great improvement for the original), so I guess I'll give her a chance before deciding if I'll definitely want her, or not, in the harem.

The end of chapter 2, when she calls to congratulate you on the new job, there is the flashback where they talk about their past.

She came over to his place. She wants sex. Paul comes knocking. You can ignore and fuck her and cuck Paul as he sees you banging her from the window. Creampie. She lies on top of MC as he hugs her and you can see her cry silently, showing us her conflicted emotional state and the peace she feels at that moment despite her questionable choices. Back to present time. Phone call confirms the baby is MC's. Then they talk about how her relationship with Paul is basically a facade and doesn't include sex. MC says the child is his and she loves him, so why not become his woman? She says she is afraid of getting too invested - too involved - because she actually loves the MC unlike Paul. She is afraid of getting hurt. A bit contrived, yes, but she never came off as the most straightforward or stable person. I personally like rocky relationships like this.

If you opened the door for Paul when he came knocking, the whole thing changes. She taunts MC, telling him that she will show him how a real man fucks her. Paul creampies her. Then she taunts MC to come get some sloppy seconds. MC is too infatuated with her to do anything but comply. Back to the phone call in the present. She doesn't know who the father is. She tells him that the sex that night was the best she ever experienced. She taunts him a bit and expresses her desire to cuck him again. There is just enough believability in the way this whole thing is handled to make this kinda interesting even though I don't typically like netorase stuff like this with a willing cuck. The MC's infatuation with her is something she holds over him.

She becomes 2 entirely different character based on the route. Make no mistake, she is definitely not a pure or good woman in either route. It certainly won't appeal to the pure harem enthusiasts, and that's fine. Not every game, or every harem tag, needs to be written for those specific harem fans. This game already has 169 patrons and making $622 at the time of this post, and the game is fucking new. It's been out for like 3 months. That's gotta be in the top 1% growth rate for porn games, so it's certainly doing something right.

In the pure harem route (if there is a route that removes the NTR without having to worry, it's the one I follow) there is no option to open the door.

In any case, Carla isn't an LI that I'm excited about, and depending on how the next updates develop I will decide whether to keep her in the game or use the option to remove her and Paul.

I would bet most of those patrons are there for NTR content. Thats why I said the dev would be wise to scrap the harem side path. He had a chance to get the harem fans if he did what he said he was going to do and scrap the NTR stuff but he again lied and doubled down on the that content and now if he did have supporters of what he claimed this game was about they will abandon ship soon enough.

First of all, Gry still fucks Paul. Dont know what you guys were talking about beeing her Twin Sis.
Secondly, after playing it myself and reading the last comments and what the Dev. already tried to pull I can say he dont want to create a harem game. Not in the normal way at least that is for sure.
Im pretty sure the third option where MC + Paul creampie her was the original setting for the whole drama but kinda paddled back in the "Harem" path. (Kinda unbelievable with her being sexless with Paul and that this whole marriage was a facade but it seems dev. tried to do at least something to make her "pure" in the harem path)

In the end, If you can have a Harem path and the contend is 1:1 with the other Paths, I dont see any problems with it. But the models arnt my cup of tea and this weird setting for a harem is also weird.

Finally got around to playing the update and I have to say that I have absolutely, positively, no fucking idea what people are complaining about. This is a pretty good game so far. If you don't like NTR you can turn it off on the first screen. If you don't turn it off you can still avoid it with your choices. A lot of harem games start out with your girl getting stolen as the inciting incident. It is a convenient way to make sure that the protagonist doesn't want a relationship but on almost every forum that has this common trope there are unreasonable amounts of outrage that I just don't understand. What I do want to understand is how so many harem fans tripped into the NTR path accidentally. You have to spy on your ex's boyfriend in the toilet to see him fucking the game host. Don't like it? Don't do it! To get the hard NTR scene you have to let the new boyfriend in when he is pounding on the door and ignore the (NTR) next to that choice. I think these motherfuckers like cuck porn a lot more than they want us to know.

As an addendum to my previous post, I haven't any preference when it comes to either NTR or Harem. I play either genre without any difficulty. I recognize that it can be challenging to balance both in a single game, but why back down from a challenge? I am interested to see how the devs manage to strike this balance in the upcoming updates. I find both branches equally interesting at the current juncture. Like many, I must admit that I find Carla irksome but somehow I think that is her role. To be more of an abrasive element to give the friction that turns the wheel of the story. Quite unlike the proper love interests who are to be properly fleshed out as the story unfolds.

It goes against all and every one of the adverts for the game,
it undermines the plot tremendously, not to mention alienates all of the chars involved,
meaning both the girl, the antagonist and the protagonist are outside any enjoyment.

Episode 3 of The Builder opens with the morning light shining on Fjordheim, where our hero will be living for a good period of the building process.
In Ep3, we will meet 5 new characters, all of them related to people we've met in the first two episodes. We will be following the MC through his first day of work in Fjorda, and get to view the site of the memorial for the first time.
Gradually, we will also start to realize that all is not well in the village of Fjorda, even though our MC's journey is still in its early stages.
The day (and the episode) will come to an unexpected end, both for us and the MC.
Starting from the next release, the Carla - Paul storyline will be optional from the first encounter in the auditorium.
I'm adding this choice because not everyone appreciates the fact that Paul is being humiliated on the harem line, and would rather not see him appear in the game at all.
This adjustment requires very little programming, and the effect on overall gameplay will be minimal.
Personally, I enjoyed exploring the fubar relationship between the MC and Carla (and to have the opportunity to see it from different angles), but it's an aquired taste in an erotic game, so I have no problem providing the option to skip it all together.
As quite a few of you have remarked, The Builder is a game that aims towards high visual fidelity, and has the ambition to match the visual complexity with more nuanced psychological portraits. To some of you that makes it more interesting, to others, that doesn't matter so much.
Whatever your preferences might be, the work with Ep3 is well underway: the first scene is rendered and the script is written half way through. I'm getting help to redo the main menu and visual interface, and hope to include these in the next release too.
