I'm just bitter.

My 5th best girl is an AI with no body.

Kes I can't decide if I want to adopt her or have my MC put some kittens in her.

That leaves me with Best girl Bobbie, Best ass Lily, Best Brain Val and Best Succubus Alina. None of the are the poster child for sound mental health.

Someone with a penis once said never stick your dick in crazy ............ but what it crazy is all that's left?

Also, from a character perspective there is the very first encounter on the Demeter the MC has alone with Jane and James... where ironically nobody has really complained of urgency in that scene.
That's probably because in the beginning he is well within the 30-minutes he had before his ship was supposed to leave. At the end he is already overdue and every second they spend there, they risk being left behind. Add to that the fact that Callisto expressly told him that the moment he gets Alina, the space spider is going to go ham and he has to get off the ship ASAP, and the whole scene becomes borderline suicidal.
Personaly i didn't have much problems with too much talking, i also agree with oidex here, especially the first scene was kinda fitting. Overall i really liked the whole mission on the Demeter, also the MC and Bobbie were really good, Val and Lilly had some time to shine later on, really well done imo.

The scene with the mother and daughter was also fine, there was some small talk yes, but it wasn't much.
The scene with Callisto made sense, he was infront of a alien flesh wall and a fiery chick which didn't really make ignoring her a choice and she had usefull information.
The scene with our dreamgirl was fine.
The one real complain i would have was chapter 13/14. As said, we were explicitly told shit will hit the fan as soon as we free our succubus and we need to get our asses of the ship asap, add to that, we are already late and risking the Antares at this point.

The first half of 13 was fine, but then it felt like having a nice introduction round with coffee and tea, flirting and making friends...same for 14 when we reach Bobbie, which just got explicitly told by Val they risk the whole ship and it's time to go because the cap is so late, so now we have a nice introduction round with Bobbie...

There's time and place for all of that, just this wasn't it, at all. On the one hand, you kinda ruin the whole atmosphere, the sense of urgency, danger and dread. On the other hand, you make the characters, like the MC, look really stupid when we have a nice coffee round and then we are told by Val the ship is in danger because he's late...
That was more the point where i wanted the MC to throw the girl over his shoulder and make haste, same when we meet Bobbie, get the people inside and get the ship to safety, for jokes and small talk there is time when they are on the bridge.

Totally valid.

I'm curious to see when in the story MC finds out that Callisto is his deceased love (Pella) and that Kaylee is their daughter, who is now an adult due to the time difference caused by the void :)

It was a 4 year difference not 20.

Also, it wasn't 4 years for them, it was 4 years for everyone outside the void.

Also, also, the idea of Nodens giving a human that kinda power doesn't really track with what he's done so far.

I thought of that but didn't time slow down for them compared to outside the void, not speed up?

The crew was only there on a rescue mission, and by the time they left, three weeks had passed. The thing about the daughter is just a theory on my part, since she bears a very similar facial resemblance to her mother. I could be wrong, of course. However, based on Callisto's reactions and how she behaves during the conversation, it's clear that she's actually Pella. It remains to be seen what the price will be for her power. She certainly doesn't seem to have accepted it easily.

Yes, for them on board hardly any time should have passed and Pella should still be pregnant.
Kaylee being the daughter would only be a possiblility if Callisto/Nodens somehow intervened, got her seperated somehow/somewhere, the time in the void seems to flow very different.

That would be a major downgrade (personality wise)...i do enjoy agonizing her thought, hope we can do it some more
Some of her reactions would match that theory, like as she said she lived a lot faster, or her reaction when you mention her daddy etc
Would also be a nice analogy to the myth, as Callisto was pregnant and turned into a star (or constellation) to save her live.

Finally managed to download the new version, and decided on a fresh readthrough.
Some of the new music is a bit intrusive, by which I mean, too upbeat.
Which is ok sometimes, or as a specific character theme, but there were times where it seemed out of place.

Any particular places or pieces you could single out?
