Well, that's that. How about this for a complete shocker after all the radio silence on Patreon ??
Dev got caught lying, nothing new or unheard of there, fuck knows what exactly the purpose was of that completely out-of-the-blue and pointless infamous scene with Olivia that added nothing constructive to the story and decided this is the best outcome, instead of doing damage control and sticking to the promises they made to their fans ??
If that's the truth, then it's better the game stays abandoned, cuz personally, I suspect there were more plot 'twists' like that planned for future updates and this is just a childish reaction of someone who got caught with their hand in the proverbial cookie jar while trying their best to gaslight you about it and deny the plain obvious truth.
Seems like this is another case of a dev having no actual plan for where their story should go and the destination it's supposed to eventually reach, just rolls with whatever they come up with at the moment or others dictate them for a few extra bucks, and don't think too much about ppl's opinions until it's too late and the damage can't be undone.
The funny thing is, the dev's the only one who can actually do something about the big dreaded yellow tag, the fact that he doesn't seem to bother to even communicate on Patreon or here with his fan base speaks volumes, only thing left for those of us who liked the game to do is to thank the dev for the effort put into making it up until this last update and move on to other titles.
