But it's weird the way she is introduced in this game, it's as if they both have already met, but it's not the case. Did I miss an event?

Theres several minor events outside church in morning. Starting with you seeing old man with a girl, then seeing them doing things together, and then because your a church girl you decide to purposely make friends with her to save her soul or something like that. There are several minor interactions, including in your bedroom and in your house lobby, etc.
