Why would it looks bad? Literally every updates the dev been doing this. You can read the message he left right there.
This isn't the first time dev has taken a few months. be patient and don't pressure the dev.
He not taking a break. Vacation mode activate so that he won't charge people money for the time he working on it. He only charge when he release the update.
I believe you may have not check out other AVNs/Games... There are number of devs do the same thing. There are few devs release updates once a year. Some devs have conflict with "real life" activites that may impact their time on their project. There are some Dev who may have roller coaster schedule that make it complicated to know if they are going to continue or not.
The Dev is not actually on vacation. He/she uses “vacation mode” to pause payments so subscribers won’t be charged while he is working on the update. The Dev has done this for the majority of updates, so no, it is not an indication of them abandoning the game.
