At renderosity, a couple of coupons for Valentine's Day (for a $20+ purchase, multiple use)
  • 20% off for everybody only today SHOWTHELOVE
  • 25% off prime till Sunday SHOWTHELOVEPRIME (also a double 7% reward)
A good discount, but, besides that, most of the deals are not so great
  • 70% off 20 Sabby chars (retiring)
  • 70% off Jancory (?) closing store (coupon blocked)
  • 55% off some stores till Friday
  • some stores at 50% off and some offers not coupon friendly
The 20% coupon is extended today (Thursday) SHOWTHELOVE
And 150 items are at 70% off (coupon friendly) till Friday

I gotta post a humble bundle again:
kitbash-enchanted.png
Here:

Kind of expensive actually compared to the Unreal ones (there is an Unreal one still ongoing right now, but it is mostly just stuff from older sales that I all posted). But still cheaper then buying in the Kitbash3D store.

Also, I've got something that I am not sure if it qualifies as freebie, or maybe AI asset news, but this exists: a 10 milllion strong object dataset for research and education, consists of a lot of CC licensed stuff, so should actually be possible to just use it. As far as I can tell it is entirely scraped from free resources.

Not your fault, but boy were these time wasters, so posting to save other people time if they're in the same position as me.

As far as I can tell, nowhere on the page does it say what file formats it supports. I can only use stuff if it imports into Daz Studio, so OBJ-only, basically.

I looked all over their website and they just brag about their "1 click import". (Personally I find this lackadaisacal approach to technical information disrespectful, but what can you do?)

Eventually I found a buried away help page, which has a section that claims to be "Supported File Formats & Render Engines" but that section doesn't actually LIST FILE FORMATS, it just lists software. Finally, there's a SEPARATE section at the end that says "You can download the FBX and OBJ files of a kit [...] you may have to do manual work [...] such as rebuilding materials". Of course OBJ material support is limited so having to manually do full-PBR materials is normal, but it's not even clear if they include .mtx files at all, sounds like maybe it's only .obj, so screw that. ( )

Because this collection is so large, they don't provide a download link, they provide a python API to download parts of it. After spending about 20 minutes working through the tutorial and learning about the random third-party data table system it uses, I got to the point of starting a download, and it immediately crashed out trying to delete a download directory tree with a permissions error. I suspect it's Linux only and doesn't work on Windows but I'm not sure.

There is a downloader called cargo, you install it and it downloads the stuff for you, in the format that you need. It works for Unreal, Blender, and a couple of others: I only tried it in blender, it went ok.

EDIT: I started wondering about where does cargo actually download stuff, and checked, and it downloads .usd when I import something into blender. You can change the download path, though its clearly meant as a thing that you shouldn't mess with. As in you're not really supposed to directly import the .usd files, you should go through the application.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I didn't even attempt to download it. It would just be a huge mess of stuff if I'd actually managed to download it. They do have a blender plugin though, and I imagine it would be relatively easy to build something that uses the python api to get stuff on demand into blender.

The interesting point is that it works for gift cards. So 30% with a $5 buy-in...
Probably a glitch, so try to be fast.
Coupon is only usable once, but I bought two $500 gift cards in the same cart, I made one $499 and sent to a different email address (don't know if that mattered, didn't waste time trying to figure it out). Tried adding a third and it didn't discount. Maybe I did something wrong and it's possible to get more, but I decided that I didn't want to push my luck.

Nice! and with the buy-in discounted too it gave me 29.22% off the GC ...

glassware, coupon only works on a maximum of 3 items, including the buy-in ... I had a glitch applying it to just the GC, the coupon was rejected, fixed itself when I added the current which came in discounted to $3.91 ... I'm happy

Oh yes, you're right, it applied the discount to the buy-in item itself as the 1st item. I suppose that means if I'd done three gift cards first, THEN added the buy-in, it might have worked.

Just spotted that the Wishlist promo in the (35% off 3) promo stacks nicely with that in the (50% off 3) promo if you select the same three qualifying items (check dates); tokens also apply - subject to required buy-in.

Coupon Code: 3-WISHES
usable 3 times - expires 2024-02-22
[EDIT] With 8 Tokens I achieved 77.24% discount on 3 Wishlist Items that never seem to be discounted and the saving covered the cost of the buy-in [/EDIT]

If you are interested by very old items (V4 era and older), there are some great bargains here with many items, including $40+ bundles.
No buy-in

OK, so there's a 'leap year' sale over at Daz3D.com. It includes 50% off memberships and a bit of discount stacking, so it might be worthwhile to watch the lightning deals and check for decent discounts today.

I haven't been buying much lately, mostly just burning my monthly Daz+ coupons, so I'll leave it to the professionals to spot the really good deals.

Not sure, I am a professional. My recent purchases have also been almost nonexistent.
But there are some good deals, and the "leap year" aspect lets me think that it will last till tomorrow 02/29 .
The daz+ discount on D0 is 60% instead of 30%. That's an extra 42% off DO items. So having a look at the "lightning deals" is a must. They will be at least at 84% off, but I had some deals at 94% off.
And the stacking 30% off non DO may also be interesting, and it also applies to new releases.
And you still have a way to get 20% off your cart.

Just a quick note that over at Daz3D.com, there are two IP specific flight suits available today, a BSG one and a SW one...

Kind of surprised to see Battlestar Galactica and Star Wars mentioned specifically for these, wonder how much they paid for the rights to do IP specific stuff, assuming that they paid for this. If they didn't license these, yeah these might not stick around for very long...

Other than that, still researching today's sale options, just wanted to point these flight suits out...

It's sold under a different license that limits what you can do with it.

Lots of 3D asset sites have been doing this for a while, but Daz only started doing it recently. People have begged them for a filter to hide all of these so we won't buy unusable assets accidentally, but they haven't responded.
