Hey folks,

There's a wishlist sale going on at Renderosity at the moment. And it actually discounts 50% off everything in your wishlist. Look what I've got for myself. It's fantastic. :D

BTW, the one thing that I like the most about Renderosity is that sales seem to work flawlessly always, as it should be. Unlike Daz, where sales are usually plagued by issues.

Oh wow! Two things I'd probably never wishlist though, so probably no joy for me.

If Renderosity allowed discounts on gift certificates more often, that would be a game changer! One can hope I guess...

Also, I'd totally renew my Prime membership at that price.

Checking... neither item on wishlist, but still showing those prices... not sure if that's intentional or not, but yeah...

Best of luck y'all!

Edit: Looks like the purchase went through. Note that you can buy multiple gift certificates of different amounts, the 'in cart' icon seems to block buying two gift certificates of the same amount in the same cart...

Just search for gift certificates, you'll see all of the gift certificates options, plus the Renderosity Prime membership cart item.

I should note that a Renderosity Prime membership now seems to not come with a monthly freebie. These usually weren't that useful to me to begin with, but they seem to be leaning harder into the 'higher discounts for Prime members in some sales' thing instead. Still, at $19.98 for the year, and yes this will extend your Prome membership for another year, if you spend more than say $180 at Renderosity per year, with the 'cash back' points also taken into account, I'd think that $180 or so might be the 'break even' point for Prime.

The 'Prime" items are also cheaper to begin with, so that proabably makes Prime totally worth it if you are interested in those items.

Or something like that. I spend more than $200 each year at Renderosity, so Prime is probably worthwhile to me. YMMV.

Renderosity gift certificates will expire in 5 years, something to keep in mind.

Not sure if this 50% off sale is 'intentional' or not, I'm guessing that this is a 'you snooze you lose' sort of thing...

On a related note, there's a few interesting items in Prime Flash right now over at Renderosity...

I just discovered the 'sort by sale' submenu in the Renderosity sort options. Renderosity sort options still have a couple of areas where they could improve, but overall, I find it much easier overall to sort for what I want to see at Renderosity!

The wishlist sale at Renderosity is running until this Sunday, February 23rd.

I'm leaving the link to the event page here, in case you want to have a look at it:

It's a lot of spending... but I'm seriously considering getting a second gift certificate tomorrow.

Just to be clear, the wishlist sale on Renderosity's Deals page says:

"Don't miss out on these deals at 50% Off for everyone."

which sounds like maybe it's 50% off for everyone if it was in anyone's wishlist. Yeah, that's definitely the case, you can chase the link to "all items in the sale" and it's over 700 pages.

Which means the gift certificate deal could definitely be an oversight that they'll fix.

Since you can only use one Gift Certificate per cart, this seems like about the best you can do, using the Prime Coupon and only picking items with green tags.

Actual purchase cost, $250.72, product value $1233.60

Edit: Actually, it looks like you could do better if you dive into Prime Flash sales and such, I assumed coupons would be blocked but I see items for 60% off with green ticket icon.

except it appears the "pickings" are (nearly) all the things with no existing discount.
Renderosity discounts don't normally stack, so that doesn't really mean anything. You would either get some existing 30-70% discount, OR the wishlist 50% discount, not both.

Certainly a perfectly reasonable approach to the current sale would be to buy one or more gift certificates, and then wait for 60-70% off sales to maximize the benefit. But just getting 50% on the GC stacked with 50% for basically everything in the store, it's hard to resist, especially if you have Prime and can apply the 20%-off coupon too. By Daz math that adds up to 80% off. If you instead wait for 70% off but no Prime coupon, that'll be effectively 85% off with half-price gift certificate.

I don't think I ever remember Renderosity gift certificates being 'on sale'. It probably happened, as I don't pay close attention to the Renderosity store, but I missed it if it did.

Which is what makes today's sale so rare. Also, essentially it looks like the ENTIRE STORE is 50% off, which happens occasionally but not that often, which means that a lot of vendors that don't go on sale very often are currently on sale.

For me, I still had not used my 20% off monthly Prime coupon, so today was a 'perfect storm' as far as Renderosity sales go. I'll be curious to see what happens after 11:59 PM Tennessee USA time today r.e. the gift cards being on sale.

Now I just need to download a buttload of product packages. I had a number of 'would be cool if I owned those' items, so now I have even more toys (mainly environments & wardrobe) for my upcoming project! I ended up 'splurging' on a few things that I probably could have waited for a slightly higher discount, but mainly I was just happy to finally grab some things I've been wanting for a while now but wasn't willing to pay 'just' 50% off for. Yay gift certificate sale!

This definitely wasn't on my 'things I'd be doing today' list, but no complaints. Kind of burned out looking at product pages now, and my original plan for the day was of course shot to hell, that's how things roll sometimes!

For a moment I was a little annoyed that I spent last weekend going through the Daz store and wishlisting everything, so then Renderosity has the wishlist sale today, but once I realized it didn't matter what was in my wishlist I was very happy. Like you say, this gift certificate sale seems to be a huge aberration, we'll see what happens.

So, FWIW, I just saw there's a separate ad on the Renderosity banner:

1740201578426.png

That just links to the entire marketplace, so apparently that's why everything is on sale, not because of the wishlist sale. There's nothing giving any details about this or any explanation of when it ends. I can't find any other reference to it except the banner.

OTOH, the sidebar does explicitly list the Wishlist sale and implies it has 46,653 products in it, which is still basically 99% of the store I think. So I have no idea what they're doing. The 50% off gift certificates show their sale expires on Feb 23, so they seem to be part of the Wishlist sale, at least.

Compare and Contrast (repeating what has already mentioned ... but eh!)

At Daz3D:
Screenshot 2025-02-22 131126.png
At Renderosity:

Screenshot 2025-02-22 131053.png

At Renderosity Store-wide means just that and apart from some understandable exclusions it includes everything, including the Gift Certificates, and exclusions are clearly marked on the product's listing and store page. Most notable, is that the discount is not qualified by any pre-requisites.

At Daz3d your discount is diluted by 'buy-ins' and limited in the number of qualifying items.

Both have lower price limits; however at Renderosity they are explicit as their discount rarely, if ever, stack. Whereas at Daz3D where we have been trained to maximise the discount, optimising stacking, buy-ins, tokens, etc. they have introduced the small print 'minimum / lowest price' sale terms.

Some moments ago, when I was having a look at my email inbox, I felt happy when I saw that WL sale announced. But now I see that it's only for up to five products. Man, that's unfortunate.

In the recent past, my wishlisted items count on Daz even reached a figure close to the 2500 pieces. I've managed to buy hundreds of those WL items during the last few months. A huge effort, but my current WL still counts almost 1100 items at this time. The good news is that during this time I've also become way more selective and less impulsive before wishlisting new stuff. This move should help me in my intent of shrinking my WL over time.

Also, happy to see that the gift certificates are still on sale at Renderosity. :D Each gift certificate is valid for 5 years since the date of the purchase. Enough time for spending it all, even for the $500 ones.

Another difference: Renderosity uses "11:59 pm Feb 22" where Daz will use "00:00 Feb 23". At least Daz stopped using "midnight" or "12:00 pm" and switched to "00:00" which is less ambiguous, but it still makes it easy to misread and think you have one day more than you actually do. In fact, Renderosity actually puts a countdown timer on each product page to show when the sale on that product expires so you don't have to track down which sale it's coming from or do ANY thinking about the time and day.

Another difference: the above Daz banner isn't even the original Daz banner. Originally Daz got the date the item must be wishlisted by wrong, and it said by end of day Feb 22, which is AFTER the sale started, meaning you should have been able to add to the wishlist and then buy with the wishlist sale. Obviously this was a mistake, and that's the other difference: Daz sales basically always have mistakes, and Renderosity's do not.

For a short lapse of time, it was apparently possible to buy a gift card for more than a 50% off at Daz. One user on the forums got one worth $200 for $100. Today's extra 50% for up to five WL items apparently included (erroneously most likely) gift cards as well, as long as the buyer had one wishlisted prior to this sale. But it's been fixed, sadly. I haven't been able to make it on time.

In fact, with the three new-release buy-ins of the other day's sale, getting one GC with more than 50% off must have been possible as well.

As orgtech has just said, the amount and frequency of errors and lack of transparency on Daz sales is very, very significant. And I can't hide that it annoys me quite a bit. They surely need to offer a more reliable experience for the customer.

That made me wonder how to even put a gift card on my wishlist, turns out you can from the cart:

Well, to be honest, I haven't been paying close attention to Daz3D.com. I just banked a few more gift cards over at Renderosity (at 50% off), so my Renderosity shopping should be covered for the next year or so. I don't shop very often at Renderosity, mostly 'cuz of playing cart Jenga at Daz3D.com for hours on end trying to maximize discounts, but this year will of course be different, 'cuz I'm invested now.

Honestly, personally I could care less about March Mehness over at Daz3D.com this year, but I get that most of you are still in the 'building phase' of your Daz Studio libraries, so you need to stay abreast of the current sales.

I'm pleasantly surprised that Renderosity let this 'gift card discount' thing slide. Either someone is getting fired on Monday, or the accountants and Renderosity vendors are going to be pleasantly surprised by the sudden uptick in sales of products. I hope it's the latter. I don't expect Renderosity to do 50% off gift cards again after this weekend, but it'd be nice if they did say 25-30% off gift card sales every so often to keep people interested.

And incidentally, those gift card purchases count towards your reward points. My quick napkin math indicates something like a 7% return, or $35 extra when redeemed for gift cards, after spending $500 on gift certificates ($500/250, $250/125, $200/100, $50/25) I don't think you earn rewards points for items purchased using gift certificate balances though...

Soooo, 4D chess move by Renderosity, or honest mistake? That's a pretty effective power play, particularly when Daz3D.com is imposing minimums on product prices...

The Renderosity forums are pretty much a ghost town currently. Not one mention about the 'gift card' sale that I've seen so far, seems like only 1-2 posts a day show up on the Renderosity forum to begin with. I get that forums are so last decade, but still...
