We fucking put a man on the moon but can't get a decent machine translation for a porn game.
It should be noted that the base game is planned to have english translations built in from the creators. Their last patch translated some lines and added voice acting.

Language is hard. They put the phrase 'out of sight, out of mind' through a machine and got 'blind insanity'. And then you get cultural things and words/ideas/phrasings that don't really exist in other languages. Jokes that don't exist/work without cultural context.

Japanese puns, man. Those don't translate at all. I read a ton of manga and light novels and the ones that address the translations generally note that Japan's clever wordplay doesn't translate across languages.

Actually it's not that hard to put a man on the moon and even get him back to earth. Just not really reasonable. Automatically translating one language to another with completely different logic is a lot harder, lol.
