Been a while since I've seen the whole Luna gets kidnapped ordeal, but my first impression back then is
...

outcomes, it works and you return them to their lives or it doesn't work and you end their lives.

I feel it is more about making them jaded or hardened to make them more fierce in order to unlock their full fighting potential or even raise it. You know with it having been children from families and law enforcement as well so pitting those hardened kids against one another later, "they" hope to have more fierce battle between those. And it seems to be a setting where the character improve or raise their power level during fights.

Maybe they hope for a power level of over 9000!

I mean, as shown in Ombra mission back in v0.07 & v0.08, there are clearly storyline being told through the freeroam gameplay (such as Caterina & Amata banter in v0.07 during the mission navigation, or MC, Gracie, Zoey, Luna interactions during the missions navigations as well).

So you're still missing out on content, just that you wouldn't be missing VN parts of it (Which gets available through either Just Story mode or VN mode).
It's just how it is.
There is a reason why the first mode is called "Full Experience" mode.

As for the other modes availability, who knows (about how long the wait will be)? Only Hopes would know that.
Though given Full Experience will always take priority over others, with every update which has gameplay, I'd say you'll need to wait for some time before other modes become available (and iirc, it's only the Just Story mode that's available and pure VN mode isn't even available yet?).

Whenever i try to load any of my saves, it keeps loading to the first mission where i need to go the tavern and soldier quarters. How do i fix this? Its basically impossible to play because it keeps resetting my progress.

this is the first mission if you were to start a new game, so in the new update the variable that changes when you see the scene isnt checked, so it treats it like a new game. you should still have all your stats and money, you just have to finish the event

no, it does not. literately back to start as well, no prior stats or completed missons/stories are done. its an actual new game. Mind you i just started today so save files are of this update.

EDIT: Dev is also already aware of this. so just gotta wait out for a fix

it is annoying but the saves ARE there, so hopefully we didnt lose anything, just a matter (hopefully) a fix and all we have to do is update the files and then load game and should be good to go. so hopefully it will be within the next few days. bumber tho, was really getting into it hehe.

i have this same issue i have events that require evening/night time and meet the requirments for them but there not activating.

See the post # 27,226 on next page and download 2 files. That solved it for me.

The DeLuca Family (Hopes has said from the very beginning, that his intent for this game was to create an adult game experience for the players, and not a porn game)

DeLuca Family is one of the rarest, most classy AVN titles ever. But, to say it has no porn is delusional. I only give two scenes as examples but there are scenes like these throughout that only get hotter as the game progresses. This type of graphic sex content is considered porn by both the proprietors of mainstream media and porn producers alike. I'm not saying this as an insult. DeLuca Family is one of my all time favorites, best of the best. I LOVE this game!!! But, to say it is not porn is delusional. Honestly, this is what great porn SHOULD be.

Is there a reason, during our first free roam session within Lucania, that Sister Amata and Sister Amita to a lesser extent, act like they don't have any prior history to the MC whatsoever? I can't speak for everybody, but I did the special delivery contract for both of the battle nuns, and there was also the infiltration mission on the Ombra warehouse where Sister Amata was one of the MC's special guards.

I haven't played the update yet, but I believe someone said that it was a flashback to when they first met.
