I mean, it's hard to say what kind of support this game would have received if it went path A or path B. Maybe better, maybe worse.
What I can say about the support is that I am personally very happy about it.
I do not know of any other games around my release period that gained a mass following in patron. The few that have done well are under or around the same numbers as me. Of what I know that is.
So I wouldn't say the game is not hugely supported due to 'extreme' opposite of smut games but rather that the marked itself is not in a place where mass patrons happen anymore. Most of the big pledge games out there been on the market since almost the start.
That's what's important honestly. I see people with Deluca fan signs around the forum alot(myself included of course) so you obviously have a following or people who appreciate the work you're doing. It's important too that it's work that you yourself are happy with. It really shows when the devs aren't happy with their projects but the love and care you put into it is apparent. And you're right about the patron numbers because that doesn't account for the amount they're donating. For only being in this line of work for around a year i'm guessing? You're doing pretty well so far.

Come around the table! Calling all DeLucas! With Wilfred's blessing, there is now a bet...
There are virginities at stake here, DeLucas! And the bet is "Which virginity is taken?"
The choices, dear mafiosos, are these-
1. Luna (any orifice)
2. Gracie (any orifice)
3. Gracie's first kill
4. MC's anal virginity.
5. MC's first kill

Now the betting table is open!!!!

Edit.. edited again.. the killings refer to the first killing under the DeLuca name. Sexual virginities assume that Luna and Gracies are virgins and that the MC didn't have any "anal blessings" by priests or old men. Or maybe by his childhood friend? Again, we are ASSUMING here.
50 on MC's first kill

how to run a contract event. I can't
If you meant the mission called The contract talk to Wilfred about contracts. If you mean the small contracts you use to get exp and money you only have one type of stealth mission at first, others unlock as you rank up.

True, and very much the case with games that has the porn as the focus.
But DeLuca is not (solely) about the porn. There is no 'buildup'. For there to be buildup it requires that the end goal with all the interactions is aimed towards sex in the end.
But here the sex is not the goal- it's just part of the journey. It will just happen as you progress with the girls naturally. You interact because you want the story and learn about the girl. After sexual interactions, the next interactions will still be about the story and the relationship between them.

Of course, in this marked, that style is classified as a niche and perhaps I would gain more patrons by following the popular formula. But I enjoy what I do and I'll stick with it.
keep it that way. They can watch porn if they're looking for sex as the main content. but good quality game? it's a rare gem. and I'm sure you will get more patrons when this game progress ever more.

I bought wine twice for Isabelle, got a kiss from her but I'm not getting any "other contracts" about stealing wine from Wilfred.
I advanced the story, got a promotion but still nothing.
Am I missing something?

You need to talk to Wilfred about the wine, then a mission should appear. Stealing from him would probably end really badly. The previous Isabelle event and story three have to be done first. You also need fifty stealth for the mission, can't remember if that bit might stop it from appearing though.

I have 95 stealth. There are no unclicked talk options with either Wilfred or Isabelle any time of the day. There's still no wine mission option in the contracts and I also don't see any way to steal the wine from Wilfred.

Have you tried talking with Isabel again in the living room at night? If you tell her: "So, I thought I could maybe help you again?", she'll start telling her story, and you can ask Wilfried for Wine on the morning after.

Ok, now I've passed the part where MC tickles Luna, in that same evening I checked again and got the Isabel new talk option.
So it seems a lot more progression with other characters were needed for the option to become available.

Can someone explain why this has blown up in popularity? Even if it's got above average story and renders it still has limited adult content on top of a clunky UI.
If I had to take a guess, I'd say it's simply because it's quite refreshing to connect at this level with characters. They're well written, the renders are indeed beautiful, and the story leads you to care about each of them in a way that isn't just "when will my landlady/roommate let me jerk off to her sleeping naked body!?".

A lot of people might not care for it, but if you're among those foolish enough to appreciate spending good times without the need to bust a nut every two frames, that game hits all the right buttons.

I hope it helps you get the popularity :)

The game is among the top in the rated games and on the first page of most liked. This can give the feeling of a game that has been 'blown up in popularity'.
But in reality, that is not quite true. If you look at all games that are on the top list they all have something else that is way higher- View count.
5 mils, 10 mils, 15 mils and so on view count on those games while my game has 1.7 mil. This was a bit more crazy to look at back when the game was 500k on the view count while still being among the games with the million view counts.
But what that means is basically that my game is not popular in the mass form, rather the few that do play it tend to be pleased enough with the game that they leave a like and review.
So it's a successful niche game. Not a blown up popular game such as these we have now at the top spots.
