I just cancelled my membership till new version, said I would have access to content till 1st of January but it immediately put me as a free member. The fuck is this fucking robbery?!
this is a patreon bug if you resub then unsub(this should not cost additional money), but don't follow as free member it should be fine. I'm assuming you have the same bug as i had where you unsub and can't see the payed content anymore even when you paid for the monthly sub.

one scene is really too little; but what update is it?
It would have been better to continue with the developments of the main story....

Weird. I've unsubscribed many paid memberships and content always remained available for me as a free user for the entire time I had paid for that tier. The content only locked when the next payment was not made and not the moment I became a free member.
It's different if you leave completely and you're not even a free member.
Or am I wrong?

I'd go one step further and call for stopping all animations and on that note any "specials" as well. Any time spent on not furthering the story is time wasted.

I don't need to see cg characters moving, it doesn't look real and it doesn't need to. It's CG, my mind is doing all the lifting anyway, the images help tell the story, and several frames of the same thing doesn't tell that story any harder.
Well, that is your opinion. I, for one, like animations. My only gripe is: Make the animation of at least a average quality or not at all. The sex animation in this special was actually a step up from the Devs previous attempts. So, good progress.

I never had those problems either, so i think it's a bug with the free member thing. If you don't become a free member after cancelling it should be fine just like before, where you can see content till the membership expires.

and thanks to people like you the dev will take double if not triple the time do something that is not needed. The game is great the way it is. Oh and its not just their opinion but mine and I bet a lot of others as well.

yeah the whole animation debate is very varied depending on who you ask. I personally like lewd and non lewd animations ( especially non lewd animations) but only certain games makes me want to have them and other games , I don't really care. This is one of the games that did make me want to have them because of the way Kathryn acts and her personality. But someone like Clem or Claire I could care less if they are animated or not.

I understand and if the game had started with them then it should continue with them but in my experience when a dev says they need to redo their game it either gets abandoned or takes forever and I am damn tired of selfish people demanding to get their way even at the expense of the game. THE GAME IS GREAT THE WAY IT IS.

Jeezus, chill out. Yes, it is because of “people like” me that you won’t get to wank to the LI as soon as you would like. Hysterical.

yeah we will see how long it delays things here , for now it doesn't seem bad. But Bobby did say he was always going to add animations just didn't do it at the start as he wanted to get better at them. Only questionable thing is how long does it take away to add them to the steam release he plans.

Who is selfish? It is entirely up to the Dev to determine whether to do animations or not. No one has demanded anything. This game did start with animations, poor animations. The Dev was aware of this issue. He decided to proceed regardless. Fair enough. He was best positioned to gauge his audience and whether better animations were needed. Not sure what you are going on about. A smart Dev listens to his patrons whatever they may be.

The problem is that today you have the opportunity to play games in development. Everyone should realize that they're playing a game in development and let the developers breathe. There was a time when you didn't know about a game until the full version came out. And you either liked it and played it as it was or you didn't. Now everyone is just in a hurry and everyone has a lot of their own ideas and pushing the developers.
Good thing that's not how big pc games are developed. A game just comes out and you either want it or you don't...

Well when this dev abandons the game or it takes 2 years for the next version because they listened to people like you I hope people remember that we had a great game. I hope I am wrong but I have seen it far too many times to trust ANY dev to redo their game and actually complete it. Sadly I have warned people on the forums of other games and people LIKE YOU said it would be fine and it wasn't.

So I am warning all the people who claim they are not demanding anything or being selfish, it is ultimately up to the dev but when enough people say gimmie gimmie gimmie most devs will listen even if they themselves aren't sure they can do it either due to lack of skill or lack of time.

You have been warned.

Y'know, some devs would just not release an update during the holiday season while still collecting that fat patreon check. Most devs have a day job and do this in their spare time. So during the holiday season most working people take what is called a vacation. It's where you don't work. Devs like Bobby release a small, non-canon holiday update to fill the gap to please the fans while also having time to travel and see their families.

You people are insufferable with your entitlement. "Wahh, I pay $5 a month, why aren't you working on my new story update 24/7?" Grow up, get a job, go touch grass, then come back here with some respect and human decency.

All this arguing about "unnecessary" animations is just wasted time. Devs are going to make what they want to, if they want to listen to their patrons, that's on them. If not, it's still their choice. Frankly, what the average person wants doesn't matter. Sure, it's probably more lucrative for a Dev to listen to their fan base over what they want out of the media being created. But if what their fans want goes against what the Dev personally wants to do or convey, I'd say stick with the original plan. Devs lose sight of their own games when they keep listening to people they disagree with. That's what causes burnout, and that's what causes a game to get abandoned. Likewise only doing the same kind of animations for months to years at a time will get you burned out quickly. You gotta break up the monotony, and sometimes Devs just want to have fun and see what they can do, or learn how to do something new.

You gotta know, you're not going to a restaurant and ordering a steak. You're going to the theater to see a movie. This movie is still a work in progress and the script is still being written, but you wouldn't be messaging James Cameron how Avatar 3 should end. These people think so highly of themselves that they actually believe if the Dev doesn't do everything they want, the Dev won't make any money. Successful directors, same as Devs, are successful because they have a story to tell. It's their story, let them tell it. These people act like they read Steven King and email him later to make a book with a happy ending. Or email George RR Martin and tell him to stop killing off his characters. Tangent aside, this isn't "Interactive game developing 101". While some engagement with fans is good, I believe the silent majority outweighs the vocal minority. Weird a game is popular even though it has things I don't like in it, must be doomed.

Just to mess with people: every time Luke and Kath walk outside, it should be animated. Every sip of coffee, every shift in posture. That's what the people really want, immersion. Trust me, I'm a professional armchair Dev. /s

Keep up the good work Bobby, take a break, see the family, travel, or don't.
Same to you all, happy holidays, and take a freaking break once in a while.

You have written it very well and succinctly. I also say that it's all about what the developer wants and likes and most importantly - it's his game. Everyone should realize that.
Thanks for your words. No need to write more on this.

Yeah I find all the complaints about the Holiday special a little sad to see if im being honest. As if I recall correctly he put out a message basically saying it allowed him to recharge and not burnout. Plus it doesn't feel like his entire focus was on the special either so while dev time for the main game will be a little slower , I don't think it's a major slow down either I mean it's 2 months past Halloween after all , so he clearly was not rushing on the special. I do understand the complaints in general but it feels like most of the complaints are without understanding to me. Personally I didn't care for the special but that is because the sex scene wasn't my cup of tea but it was fun for what it was.

Besides I like it when a dev does what they want to do it usually makes for a better game instead of listening to complainers. Different story if a dev does agree with some of the complaints. So that little talk about animations I hope he never listens to them and just keeps doing what he wants to do. Cause I hate it when complaints are loud enough they win unless the dev agrees with them of course and was something he didn't think of.

I didn’t demand anything. Just said I like animations. You are essentially flogging people for liking animations And blaming said people for a hypothetical abandonment of a VN. If you sub this Dev, you have greater influence on his patreon site then us freeloaders. If you are that obsessed with it then I hope you are a max subscriber. Otherwise, cool your pits Becca.
