Is that true and to what extent? Do the patrons really contribute to the development of the game? Do any patron ideas ever make it into the game? I'm thinking that the dev/author is more apt to develop the game rather than the people who like the game.

100% patreons have influence on the game, how much? That depends on the dev to dev. Almost all Dev's do patreons exclusive polls, some do regarding which character should have next scene or what should next update have or what outfit should a character wear. APM dev is focusing on older characters more due to his patreons and DLC dev added multiple paths/scenes based on his patreons suggestions.

Some like to play first and if they like the game.... then subscribe. Babysitter, A perfect Marriage , Exciting games with other have come out and gained NEW subscribers. Now that pool is lower for this guy.. Not to mention the last reviews for the prior release were not good .

I just subbed to get the update today, so you're wrong. He's put out enough good content in previous updates to know that you are going to get good quality, imo and this update didn't disappoint either.
