See youtube / twitch, the rest of the world has to follow the puritanistic positions of conservative american groups, because free speech is protecting the individual from the state, it doesn't limit what a company is allowed to censor (or demonetize / suppress in their algorithm)) on their own platform (what is limited is discrimination against specific groups and so on, but that's not because of free speech). If you're not happy with the limit of the platform, you don't have to post your content on it, there are alternatives, so your free speech isn't violated.
Most of the restriction on patreon are most likely due to lobbying from american interest groups (or even more stupid, Patreon being afraid to anger them and preemptively being more strict), and Patreon caves in order to not lose access to the US.

I was actually responding to someone's post about this and stated that I don't believe this will affect the VN game much at all. I don't have any issues with Patreon about their policies except when they screw up as with any company lol. But overall, I agree with some of your views on this but not all. Also, adult sites, which are companies behind adult businesses, are required in some U.S. states to have the user verify their age to make sure they are adults, which is a bit overkill, but I understand the concerns on both sides. I can't speak on things I am not 100% sure about either. I don't believe sites / companies like Patreon or others will be foolish enough to disrupt creators / devs and their works in any major way that can prompt some major legal challenges, and like I mentioned before - I don't believe it will affect The East Block or other VN creators either that use Patreon as it stands now and moving forward. Nothing has really changed.

On a bright note, I'm totally looking forward to The East Block - Chapter 7 - though, which is expected to be released soon! - Cheers!

Hey guys, I’ve been sitting without power for about 5 hours now. Extreme winds have caused power outages all across southern Ontario Canada where I live. I probably have about 10 hours of work to do so as soon as things go back on I’ll get back to it, but for now I’m stuck. I’ll post again once everything is back up and running just to put those that care at ease. I was hesitant to post this as it could come across as an excuse, but since it’s been so long I felt like I should post something especially if it goes on long enough that my phone and ipad both die.
Anyway I’ll check in a bit later hopefully with good news.

Hey guys, I’ve been sitting without power for about 5 hours now. Extreme winds have caused power outages all across southern Ontario Canada where I live. I probably have about 10 hours of work to do so as soon as things go back on I’ll get back to it, but for now I’m stuck. I’ll post again once everything is back up and running just to put those that care at ease. I was hesitant to post this as it could come across as an excuse, but since it’s been so long I felt like I should post something especially if it goes on long enough that my phone and ipad both die.
Anyway I’ll check in a bit later hopefully with good news.

Dude what are you talking about? Tell me what power grid is immune to a severe thunder storm and gusting winds? I live on the other side of Lake Ontario and it was so bad you couldn't see a few feet in front of you. The power went out at work and after two hours of sitting around and playing cards we got sent home. For a good half hour it was like the clouds opened up and just dumped water. Some areas lost power, some didn't. Luckily when i got home I had power.

Yeah, not Canada, but where I am, we've already had a few rounds of incredible severe storms, one that knocked out power for almost for 18 hours and another for 8 odd some hours. And they can't start restoring power when it is lightning every couple or seconds, or you get 40-60mph gusts every 30 seconds.

Also had some minor issues with smaller storms knocking it out for 20-30 minutes, weather has been uncharacteristically severe this early in the season.

Hell, lots of places have it really bad with tornados and absolute devastation.

Oh yeah, I got hit by this storm front too, it was pretty intense. No power loss here, but I'm sure up north closer to Canada there were outages.

That last part is original though, and I never kink shamed. It is absolutely your right to defend him if you think what I said was uncalled for or even if you just like his comment. I am not the PC police and get really annoyed when people tell me I have to word things just right as to not offend people. There are people out there, you might be one of them who look for reasons to be offended.
