You guys can think what you want about me, I don't care. Bobby has shown nothing but kindness to me, so of course I'll go into bat for him when people constantly moan about update times and call his character into question.
Seriously, the game is starting to branch more and more, and you still expect for him to somehow still keep it in the three-month window? Do you knot know how hard these games are to make, especially when they aren't kinetic?
To my friends in here, I love you guys, but this thread has been toxic since last year, so I won't be coming back. I often used to post dev updates and teasers but fuck that from now on.

Are you delusional this game has no branching paths, no matter what you pick you will always go trough said story and story points and situations. The scenes themself do have some variation on what you pick, but to call this branching is just dishonest.
There are plenty of other games that do the same and do manage to stick to a steady release schedule.
Things became toxic because people are calling the dev out on his bullshit. You can't blame people for letting their displeasure about the development of the game be known.
I used to support this dev and all interactions with him where pleasant, but as soon as he started to drop the ball i pulled support. Rather have a dev that's an asshole and meets his deadlines then a nice one that doesn't.

Whoa bach up lol. Actually I am in the process of starting my own game. I'm learning Daz and the story is 80% written. Unlike most other devs who make up the story as they go along, which makes everything turn into a convoluted mess. We'll see how it goes. I can tell you now that I would never delay an update for month after month promising supporters it will be ready with constant excuses, then it never is. I'd refund their money or stop payments if anything happened where I couldn't fulfil the quota. Not keep them hanging for six months. As that would be my fault not theirs, they shouldn't have to pay for my mistakes. Developers should have more integrity and show respect to their supporters who made them. You can give devs one chance and hopefully it doesn't happen again. If they do something like that and it keeps going on update after update then you are the gullible one and they're just taking advantage of their supporters.

Yes words are just words but a least they are pointing out the serious problems that the vast majority of devs have. I hope they do what they say they will do. We need more decent devs and how hard is it to be encouraging?

I am a dev myself, not making games, I write softwares for industry and I lead teams (of 2 to 10 devs) for more than 10 years...
I will be straight : your post is full of arrogance... Do something significant yourself FIRST and talk that way afterwards if you can... That is the right way...
And NO, *refund money* will not be enough to have people just say "ok" to you if ever you are late...

I know NO dev that NEVER was late in his/her tasks as well I know NO dev that NEVER made any mistake having big consequences in his work...
The wisest behavior is to accept this : making games is hard... The smallest mistake can prevent the game from working properly...
We all want reality to be better than that...
I judge devs on dedication, not the delays... I never blame devs to stumble and fall, I may blame those that stay on the ground and not getting up... And those who get up, I reach out to them with an encouraging smile on my face rather than pushing them down...

From my experience working with outsourcing devs, I am used to judge fairly the work of devs that I cannot see IRL...
- Being fair : if good, I will say it, if not, I will say it as well (what I usually do not do here) and I will explain what is bad if it happens that way. Expect me to be demanding...

I make softwares for a long time... And I just say that my experience gives to my words more weigh than just be delusional
I led devs working on techs I did not know... No problem... Dev is not coding, it is finding solutions through coding
No gaslighting please, they complained in an abusive way about this dev work, not me... I KNOW how hard it is to make a software AND games as well (I speak to devs I support and they like my feedback even though I never made a game).
Those two guys know nothing...
I am humble before the challenge of making a game, they are not...

Actually there is a dev that delivered on their promise and actually released a few days early. Just because YOU know no dev that was never late doesn't mean they don't exist.
I have said on other forums but it is worth repeating here. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE A LIAR when it comes to release dates DON'T ADVERTISE A RELEASE DATE. It isn't hard just say something like. I am really going to do my best to have this next release sometime in July or whatever month but when devs stupidly put out release dates people are going to want to hold them to it and if you have a history of NEVER releasing when you say you will STOP saying you will release on a certain date.
It's a pirate forum, shouldn't even be talking about release dates really, if you want to talk about release dates then you should sign up for his Patreon or Subscribestar.

I do not see devs to be late here to have such bad behavior... they thought to be able to do it in time but unfortunately they face unexpected problems or they underestimate the time required by the workload that remains to do...
And trust me : devs to underestimate their workload happens VERY often... especially when not experienced enough...
You have a point on one thing : not advertise a date, when not sure enough about it, is a good practice...
and it is not a matter of being a liar or not, it is a matter of being reliable...

And you know for a fact that none of the people complaining about the dev being late are on their Patreon or Subscribestar? Also where is it written on a PIRATE forum that people can't complain even if they aren't subscribers. I trust people's actions not their words and if I came on this site looking for TRUTHFUL and RELIABLE devs to support and the people YOU are telling not to complaining about release dates being followed I wouldn't know NOT to trust this dev. You might not appreciate people holding people accountable for their actions when they don't match their words but I do.
Frisson Studios creator of "Life as an innocent waitress" has never made promises for updates that they didn't keep. If they ever do I will stop supporting them they are also very active on the forum for the game and answering people's concerns. Those are the kinds of devs I WILL support. Not this oh something came up so I delayed my release by over a month crap. You do what you want but DO NOT tell other people that they can't post on a forum about a game that it has been delayed.
I agree and disagree with what you said. I think if a dev is consistently late on release dates then they are dishonest. Maybe liar not the right word but at some point it becomes a patern of the dev not caring about their word. I am glad that we agree that devs should not put out a specific date if there is any question about the dev being able to release at that point. THat is the point : imho, a dev being to be dishonest by being late must be proven to be by further investigations and cannot be stated just because he is late : Devs always late is also common... The key for devs, at least for me, is to never make the same mistake twice (or more)... Hence, that way, despite still being late, the dev proves me he is able to learn from his mistakes...
That's why, I think being dishonest is not the only way to see such devs always late... And when I have not enough informations to make me sure about being dishonest, I let the dev the benefit of the doubt, if I see him dedicated enough.
Devs that manage to be always (often) on time are better than the others, without a doubt... Good for them...
Just do not forget that private life and relatives (responsibilities in family) can also be important especially when devs work on those games in their free time: devs are not our slaves, they have a life outside makeing those games...
About release dates, it is obvious devs to not speak before being sure about it... Devs must also show a strong will to not give in to pressure when subscribers harass them about "when next release"... At work, I make always the same trollish reply when asked that way (I feel harassment): when ? when ready... ^^
With that, they understand this question is silly by crossing a line... ^^
Btw : At work, I have a planning and I work in agility (Scrum)
It is just a matter of trust given by us to the devs : trust is given through reliability and efficient communication about progression and it is the dev in charge about it, not us...
I will say it in another way : Being late on a given amount of expected content is NEVER a problem if the explanation shows it was inevitable : devs are neither magicians nor mediums able to foresee future...
Again absolutely do not agree with you. On Patreon you are only going to have positive comments or if there are negative ones the dev can delete them. Can't here, you get actual honest comments for and against a project and dev. You only want positive comments? Then you should not be on the forums... Period. I will now but you on ignore as I can stand dealing with people who try to limit free speech.
