THat is the point : imho, a dev being to be dishonest by being late must be proven to be by further investigations and cannot be stated just because he is late : Devs always late is also common... The key for devs, at least for me, is to never make the same mistake twice (or more)... Hence, that way, despite still being late, the dev proves me he is able to learn from his mistakes...

That's why, I think being dishonest is not the only way to see such devs always late... And when I have not enough informations to make me sure about being dishonest, I let the dev the benefit of the doubt, if I see him dedicated enough.

Devs that manage to be always (often) on time are better than the others, without a doubt... Good for them...
Just do not forget that private life and relatives (responsibilities in family) can also be important especially when devs work on those games in their free time: devs are not our slaves, they have a life outside makeing those games...

About release dates, it is obvious devs to not speak before being sure about it... Devs must also show a strong will to not give in to pressure when subscribers harass them about "when next release"... At work, I make always the same trollish reply when asked that way (I feel harassment): when ? when ready... ^^
With that, they understand this question is silly by crossing a line... ^^
Btw : At work, I have a planning and I work in agility (Scrum)

It is just a matter of trust given by us to the devs : trust is given through reliability and efficient communication about progression and it is the dev in charge about it, not us...
I will say it in another way : Being late on a given amount of expected content is NEVER a problem if the explanation shows it was inevitable : devs are neither magicians nor mediums able to foresee future...

Again absolutely do not agree with you. On Patreon you are only going to have positive comments or if there are negative ones the dev can delete them. Can't here, you get actual honest comments for and against a project and dev. You only want positive comments? Then you should not be on the forums... Period. You are learning DAZ you say ? And you feel yourself legit to speak that way towards someone, Bobbyboy, who is already a quite seasoned dev (as far as I can see), because he is making games for a decent time (this game is not his first)
I will be straight : your post is full of arrogance... Do something significant yourself FIRST and talk that way afterwards if you can...

I will even be more honest with you and say what I have in mind now : I think you have no idea the difficulties you will have to face : making a game is a hard challenge... BUT I may be mistaken, prove me wrong...

As arrogant as you sound, demanding everything you want to see. I'd still want to make sure that you and others who would try the game, are left happy and enjoy playing it. Like I said I would never get myself into a situation where I would be delaying a game for over half a year and keep supporters guessing and still paying. I've been a paying supporter to a few games and knowing how that feels - I think it's a poor way to treat people. Don't expect anything too soon. I want to be proficient in all areas before I release anything. I'm looking at making a smaller project before, as not to ruin my main story in case I find I'm still not able to do things as well as I'd like at the time, like lighting and animations. I also need to create certain assets myself from scratch, as these props have not been made by anyone yet. You said this is not the devs first game- What game has this dev made before east block ?

On Patreon you are only going to have positive comments or if there are negative ones the dev can delete them.

You're right Patreon is a lovefest where only positive comments are allowed. On east blocks patreon I see comments deleted on the chat. There was even a member who said he was banned for saying something. So you either love the game or you're blocked on patreon - here is the only place you can actually complain about aspects of a game.
I think many of these people defending this six month update, when it has usually been around two months per update are likely paying supporters. They don't want to admit that it's wrong and refuse to blame the dev. In a way it's embarrassing for them knowing they've been lied to or scammed of their money. So they blame others instead of themselves or the dev. Eventually they will see it for what it is but sometimes it takes others longer to realize. I think we have all been in that situation where we make excuses for the dev, not wanting to believe he's being dishonest or even lazy with constant excuses.


For the record I do like the game. Wouldn't be here if I didn't. I do see so many things going wrong with the writing and the issues with releases. The problems keep growing and the negatives are starting to outweigh the positives for me now. So that's why I'm complaining. I want it to be better.

The dilemma is real : many devs just cannot take the decision to postpone planned content they were excited to give to their players... They think the respect to them is content before delay... Most ask subscribers about it...

I notice how you cherry picked the post from mid April that was three and a half months after he said the game would be available in late January. When it was the time he didn't say a release date, most of the time he was making false claims about it nearly being ready in other posts. Making people think they should keep paying as it was coming very soon. BTW he always releases a new update a few days after the previous one on the monthly date. Lets say previous update releases may 1, next update releases august 7. So every new update he gets a new monthly payment from majority of supporters. That is not a coincidence. Another reason why I find his tactics dubious.

You say people can stop supporting whenever they want. That's not the point at all. It's the fact he kept people thinking he was about to release it by saying certain things throughout the process. Thats disingenuous and shows a lack of respect for his supporters to continue doing that for months. Defend that all you want but surely even you can see that delaying by so many months, while eventually releasing an update with plenty of major plotholes and what a lot of people called a disappointment, is quite a bad move, especially when he had six months to polish it. You lose the trust of your supporters and their respect. I've said in my previous comment that you don't want to blame him as you feel embarrassed, paying to be lied to. I have to say I have mixed feelings about this fight you 2 are having. On the one hand I have a very strong dislike for devs who put out release dates and then are no where near releasing and keep moving the goal posts. On the other hand if a dev learns from their mistakes and no longer posts release dates I would say that is an improvement and if they also offer refunds that is something I have not seen other devs do.

Bottom line for me is that I wish people would stop blindly supporting devs when they fail to keep promises and just donate once a good update is released. That gives the dev a good reason to keep to their word about release dates and an incentive to put out quality work. When I look for devs to support I look at honesty and quality.

A second release is usually shipped soon after a previous one because first release may have bugs that needs to be fixed...
Lesson for you : Look at the version numbering X.Y.Z Bobbyboy uses for such releases... Y increments with releases, Z increments with patches and fix of a GIVEN release...
The content of a release few days after is the SAME as the content in first release (no additional pic or story addition).... just fixes (typos or bugs if any).
I did not played 1.7.2 just 1.7.1 for your information... Did you see a significant difference between those two versions ??
From the beginning, I always played the latest except for 1.7 and I never saw anything other than fixes...

YOU are the one that complain about the game AND the dev, not me... I am understanding with devs when they show dedication... There are plenty of other games to play here while this dev is developing his game : I wait and see...

I read about the plotholes you spoke about : fair enough... I mean no one can deny what you saw there, they are facts...I saw them too while playing as well... Private joke : I hope your story will NOT have such holes...
However, I disagree with you when you say them to be "major" ones... They are major for YOU, not necessarily for ALL players... Not for me for example... It is a matter of players opinion to see them as major or not : they did not prevent me to be entertained by the game so far and see it to be very good...
The content I focus on is the build up leading to sexual scenes...
For example the entire scene of the guy beaten to death, I found this content off topic regardless the little sister seeing it and behaving like nothing happened afterwards, but I did not mind it : I always wait for devs to "explain" the content they put in their game... Explanations can come later...

I think we covered all that can be said... I tried to make you grasp some things... If you are stubborn about them, I cannot help you more...
People like you usually will learn about what I tried to make you understand, in a "painful" way... Sad...

It’s really not worth it. There’s no choices, the main character model is terrible and they look too young. I was going for a high school senior 18 year old look but they ended up looking too young so I ended up burying it. It was good practise for The east block but yeah not good, don’t waste your time.
