The following review is based off my personal experience with playing this Game/Visual Novel... I try to be as brutally honest and detailed as I can, and these are my own opinions and thoughts, from one or more play throughs...
(12/17/2017 - Original Review - v1.1.1)
Well, I'm impressed so far with the visuals of this VN/Game... The story seems like it slightly pushes towards a commonly used male protagonist that is interested in lots of women, including his mother... So, more overly used Family Sex stuff...
The visuals of the characters are done very well, although sometimes the angles are a bit weird, such as when the protagonist had the flashback to scenes of his mother, the angles made the mothers body look malformed in a couple of the shots... I do like how the animated screen fade in/outs worked, looked very professional... The backdrops, although not a bunch, looked unique from what I've seen in other VN/Games... It also is leaning towards a big breasted women fetish as well... The only character that is borderline on the size being too big for the characters body frame, is possibly the mother... It seems to be a common thing these days, especially with VN/Games not originating in English speaking countries... Me personally, i like medium to small or at least proportional to the body frame, but beggars can't be choosers....
I experienced one erotic sex scene that happened not too long into the story, and the characters visuals looked very close to real...
There was a slight UI issue, as the buttons (i.e. Back, etc) didn't seem to work most of the time when I went to click on them, but just kept pushing the story forward instead, which was annoying... And unlike other Ren'Py Visual Novels/Games, right clicking didn't immediately bring up the save menu but brought up a general menu instead... The actual Save screen was also a bit buggy, as I couldn't save in slots on the first tab until I switched to another tab and saved there first, after which the 1st save tab boxes worked correctly, it was strange...
The script is not bad for a short Intro, even though it claimed to be Episode 1 in the play through... There were a few grammar and spelling errors, and only a couple bits that were obviously broken English... But over all I could make out and read most of the dialogue/monologue just fine... The story itself introduces a girl friend, the mother, the male protagonist, and a couple of supporting characters... The plot thus far revolves around the mother/son moving to a new location, to follow the family business, and the current content just includes the jet ride there and being picked up in a new car owned by the mother... The mother is running the family business that was previously ran by the protagonists father, but it is unclear if the father will be playing any active role at all in the story... That is basically the premise of the story so far, and does feel very much like an Intro as the description sais... The VN still calls it Episode 1 when being read, so that may require fixing...
Overall, it looks promising, but still not sure if this will be a deep and meaningful plot driven story, or just a lot of sex, with little in the way of a creative, and fun to read script... With the sex scene happening so early into the intro, I'm just slightly worried... But it is way early into this VN/Game's development, so there really is no telling, at this early point, what direction/s the author/s plan to take it... I have high hopes that it will be a great Erotic Visual Novel, and not just another porn focused sex fest... I look forward to seeing how this one progress'...
(03/23/2018 - Review Update - Ep2 v0.1.2.0b)
Well it's been over 3 months since I've seen an update here for this VN/Game, and it definitely has had some changes to it, both good and bad...
First off, there are a lot of bugs... When the game first runs, it comes to a set of 3 options for playing, and right clicking and/or ESC do nothing to bring up a menu at all... So I decided to give Episode 1 another run through to see if it had changed at all... And it hadn't, in fact the broken English was still there and so were the other proofreading problems from the last time I played it, 3+ months later... After Episode 1 is over with, another bug appears... I could now right lick and press ESC but most menu choices just started Episode 1 all over again, so I ended up having to shut the program completely down and restart it...
Then I decided to give Episode 2 a go... There are lots of things I'll go into but lets start off with the basics... First off, it didn't have as many Text problems as Episode 1, but it does have a tiny amount of broken English here and there, along with a tiny amount of spelling/grammar errors... Also, half of Episode 2 felt like more introduction, that should have been a part of Episode 1... The 2nd half is where I kind of felt a little let down... Because it went from a typical visual novel feel to a mix of adventure game/grind style but yet followed a very linear path...
When the main part of the game begins, the navigation menu is hidden inside another button in the upper left corner... I found that to be a bit clunky, as most games with icons for navigation just include them on the main screen at all times, depending where you are... Rather then having to open another menu just to navigate... Then add in, that this game is going with a set of time cycles for the day, which is typical of grind style or adventure style games... Yet, although you could freely move from one room to another, and talk to some characters, in what ever order you liked, it followed a linear progression, with time changing with the story automatically... So it's more like the illusion of freedom rather then actual freedom, at least for the current content... Now don't get me wrong, I did like some aspects of the story, but I'll get into that momentarily... Plus part of the story mentions the inventory being in the upper right corner, when it is in the upper left...
When you meet all the characters outside of the mother, it feels like the protagonist is now working with a bunch of teenagers with hormones going out of control... All the bickering and poking quips at one another... Only a few characters actually seemed to somewhat act their age... I mean, it's not your typical company business type of atmosphere amongst the employees, which threw the immersion off a bit... Besides that, there seems to be a lot going on, with many teased side-plots going on... Almost like there is more going on around the office then what meets the eye... But at the same time, with all the office intrigue, it feels like it plans to be somewhat over the top and melodramatic...
Obviously with the type of business it is, you can expect the eventuality of lots of erotic and sexual things to occur... But in the current content you only get to see some feeling up, and a BJ scene between two unlikely characters, that either points to some blackmail going on, or the receptionist just has sex with everyone, who knows... There is also a mini-game, which is how the protagonist currently makes money, that is basically a lot of pictures of naked lady parts on cards that need to be matched up within the given time...
Once you get past the 1st day of work, other bugs start, but I believe that is because the content ends at that point... Because half the office rooms take on a very grainy look, and nothing besides the bed at home can be interacted with at that point... It really should have just went to a screen saying "here is the end of the current content" but it doesn't do that... It lets you navigate everywhere but with nothing to actually do, so don't waste your time... Even the Match games messes up at that point, as it locked up after clicking 2 cards, so I ended up having to end the game (another bug?)...
Story wise, it was trying to setup how the game days were going to work, with mostly introducing new characters, and offering a small amount of interaction with them to learn more about their personalities outside of your original impressions... It hints at needing to raise money for things like going to the gym, buying new clothes, paying for transportation to and from work and other places, and a bunch of other things that are usually typical of a grind style game... Of course you can only raise money for the moment, so if it is going the grind method, none of those game aspects are in place yet... So I would not doubt we've not seen all the actual game play mechanics yet... Beyond that, the story points out some possible quest like activities that will eventually need to be experienced/dealt with... Just not in the current content...
But in any case, this VN/Game with all it's drastic play style changes right in the middle of Episode 2, I'm not feeling the same promise I originally had for this VN/Game... Sure it has some visual flash to some parts of it, with regards to camera views now and then... But that is not going to save it from some of the issues I now find with it... Don't get me wrong, it's an alright story, but just not what I thought it would be 3+ months ago... It's gone from a Visual Novel to just a typical adventure/grind style with some dialogue/monologue and linear story progression... Part of Episode 2 felt like it should have just been in Episode 1, since it is just more introduction... Added with the game not feeling, like the game mechanics are even in place completely, yet... It's hard to tell if it's really going the way of grind, or not, even though it is hinting at it left and right in what some characters talk about...
Obviously it is still early on in it's development, since the meat of the story is still just getting past the introduction parts... Will I revisit this one again? I don't know, as it's not turning out the way I thought it was going to... The over the top nature of some of the characters, and other stuff revealed in Episode 2 just left me feeling a bit worried about this VN/Game... It hasn't even gone back through it's original content and fixed the issues there yet, and then add in all the new bugs in this release... I guess we'll just need to wait and see...
