I mean, if we are honest nobles have always been bunch of arseholes that rarely put the well being of their subjects high on their priority list. So Roger has very much understandable attitude towards them.
I'm guessing work on the text box/bar is in the works as blocked text is like covering your own project to ruin the viewing and appreciating?

True. Even though some do have the best interest of their people at heart. In the VN and IRL. When you get someone with the power of o King, a good head on his shoulders, and decent morals, you get a ruler that can accomplish great things. Like CHarles IV of Bohemia for example. But he was one of the exceptions, not the rule.

Vanderer, speaking of a punishment - i'm surprised what Lady Ashford got away so easily, just some scolding for what is basically a criminal negligence and complete incompetence, which allowed whole situation to happen in a first place?

It's not some discorvery, it's a way to detect not only who is under their control, but who directly control them. Effectively ruining one of the demons most successful way of causing chaos.
Sariel is not ready to have the head of someone so valuable. Ashford is one of their best researchers when it comes to the arcane. She also got the job recently, her father died a year ago or so.
Finally, Sariel do not want a revolt from her nobles on her hands. She's not the most popular right now. Sure, it was because of the aftermermentionned "mind-control" (more like a strong influence in her case), but she pissed a lot of people during that time. Killing a noble that did not willfully participate...especially one that rendered a great service to the realm recently would not be the wisest course of action.
Now, if she stepout of line again...

He did say his harem is nearly comlplete. As for gaining another girl, well, he also said that he still had a few in mind to Liliana. Including the latest addition.
And let's be honest: he's a horndog. He says that, and believe it, but some women will be able to made him waver...
And if we were in his position, most guys reading this post would have massive harems. I know I would.
