this is a reference to genetics, the basic concept at least without going into depth
height is not only genetic, it's a clusterfuck of things, like how the genetype is express, the situation a children grow in, even the diet it's a factors.

i take height expecially because it's has a serious genetic component (when you talk about 'inheritance' you are talking about genetic) but there are innumerable other factors, sarah isn't a mage, but her sister is, and both their parents were mundane (the sariel late husband was a cleric, i think). similar two short parent can have a tall child. (i'm 180cm but both my parents aren't tall, they are in the 155/165 cm range, my sister too)

True, we see it with Japanese people, as they eat less rice and fish, and replaced it with dairy and meat. Nutrition has a role.

So, it's a good analogy because there is other factors than just the genetic one, albeit no discovered yet.

nobody said it was purely a genetic thing

and just because Sariel and Godfrey aren't (weren't) mages doesn't mean a possible gene for being mage wasn't there just dormant, i think its safe to assume that is some mageblood running in at least the Aetas family.

it is said multiple times that if both parents are mages its more likely that child can awaken as a mage, that seems awfully genetic related to me.

but in the end if that is or isn't the case is up to Vanderer in for this VN ;)

Sorry but my original question was about this game world and what rules did you setup for arcane well and how apply with genetic. You do know that can be setup any way you like its your story after all and can be different from real world. Btw in real life genetics work slightly different then you all said, but it wasn't entirely false as well. Certain genetics traits skip generation and food can influence some modifier but only in excessive amount. I used to eat and drink at least half a liter (more like 1L) of milk a day, but im not very tall. But all my brothers (we call close cousins that in my culture) are taller then me and they didnt even consume half of that.
