Yeah, i tend to keep saves around, but i know that if they get too old they can cause errors of their own because the game expects trigger settings in them that aren't actually in them because said triggers weren't in the game yet back then.I just start a new game whenever there is a new update. There are games where I am attached to a particular save and want to keep it, but this is not one of them. But that's me.
There is another option you may want to consider: Start a new save, but hang on to the old one in case there is a fix. Efforts are being made to keep saves compatible between public versions, and, as far as I know, nothing has been declared stable yet. The previous one went to 04 before it was called stable, and I believe that was considered a bug-light release. So I would not be surprised to see more work on the public before the next test cycle starts in earnest.
The save i tend to keep (and mimic if saves get too old) is starting the game and going to where i can move around, jog in the park until Sammy gets tired and after a shower head over to the market to savescum 'randomly' running into a vendor that sells the alarm clock. Everything else is extra gravy.
