Its just one of the metal artifacts you can farm in the forest. You put it in the cardboard box in your inventory. Its in the video walkthrough.

It's up to you.

There will be an update only file that you can copy into your game folder. This only works from version to version, if you missed more than one release it is easier to just download the complete new version.
