Misinterpretation on my part most likely.

Thinking about it why don't Patreon supporters who want to share updates with others not simply pass them privately to one of the moderators of the thread, in the first instance, and let the moderators update public links to cloud storage? That way nobody external to f95zone would know who did what, where and when! No worries then about being punished, threatened, and/or stopped by NLT Media for sharing files. I don't actually know what NLT Media could do legally, realistically, but would love to see such a case taken to court by a developer complaining about customers sharing updates of a pornographic game, which featured explicit graphic depictions and animations of sexual acts still illegal in many countries around the world!

Imagine the legal arguments made during that one

and what the judge presiding over the trial might opine after playing it himself/herself.

That would be choice.

As Jean-Luc Picard was wont to say: "Make it so."
There's going to be a new installer rolled out soon and many more people might need access to manual updates to remain current in future if, as I suspect, the new installer (and server) has security ramped up and made much harder to crack than they are at present.

Best start saving those pennies to pay for a monthly $2.00 Patreon membership if worst comes to worst.
