So, after trying the last update I have a few suggestions:
1 - streamline the tool use. Too many clicks for no results is frustrating, to say the least, just reading the other comments I can see a lot of people agreeing on this. My gameplay would be like: I ask my assistant to find the ghost room while I roam the place using the UV and the UMF... And it is so. much. spam. And with the additional locations to search for my clothes, it has gotten worse.
My first alteration in trying to streamline the tools would be to change the shortcut for the tools to the numbers: 1(UMF), 2(ectoplasm), 3(ghost writing), 4(spirit box), 5(thermometer) and 6(UV). One press to 'activate', instead of having to click them, and a few extra key presses to use, with the highest level tool requiring no more than 2 extra 'uses'. And then the furniture would be on the Q, W, E, R, T and etc. The reason should be obvious, the gameplay loop is fun, but this is still a porn game. I usually bypass this by using tab to navigate. But I digress.
The second approach would be to increase the chance of finding a clue, along with the chance for an event. But I would lower the amount of sanity lost during those. I want to loop around the place and see the scenes but I don't want to be negatively impacted/punished by it.
2 - Lower the time consumed by the player and change the time consumed by the assistant to actions done by the player. instead of something taking 20 minutes, have the player take 5~20 actions. But I am not really sure about this one, because the main reason time is messed up is because of how annoyingly hard it is right now to get a single clue. "But you are expected to fail sometimes" is not a really good reason. I should fail because I messed up, not because time is so short that unless the RNGesus is on my side I am doomed from the start. I used cheats to get stamina and sanity and I would still fail a hunt because I simply wouldn't get the evidence. And this kind of loops back to my first point.
Extra: Just put the list of deliveries on the side panel, this is probably one of, if not THE most annoying part of the entire game. If the things above can't be done, at least change this one.
Anyway, credit where credit is due, great choice for the scenes. Not many can claim to have made a good game with the right scenes. Among the thousands you can find here in the forum, I don't think you can hit double digits with that praise.
