is probably as close to a standard as you can find, but its arbitrary and no better than using any sequential series a-z 1-infinity. The advantage of working up to a 1.0 release is that its implicitly less than whole. That said i have a preference of using the release date as the version number, saves people inferring a version number means anything (its just an id to a point in time of the codebase) and the date works just as well. If you end up 0daying your self and pushing a bug fix out the same day, just append sequential value to the end i.e. 2020-01-01a
But really it doesnt matter as long as you can track which version your working on use what ever makes you think less and focus on your game, not peoples misunderstanding of software versioning
