This is a very cool demo/prequel!

The animations are great as well as the visuals. The characters are very cute and very intriguing. I'm curious to see how the story will start or restart.

In short, play it. I don't give it five stars because perfection doesn't exist and it's only a demo. But I hope I can give the final game as good a rating as this one.

I can't wait to see what happens next and I highly recommend it. So, as criticism is easier than practice, I would like to say thank you and bravo to Kamuo for his work.

This is really just a demo of the Authors capabilities rather a full game in its own right and while a little short, don't be deceived, this is pretty awesome and worth the download.

Don't expect any choices mind you. There's nothing in here that can go wrong. It's definitely more of a story than a game.

round of applause to the dev , 1 of the best game i play , the animation is amazing unlike alot of games i played , they just still umoving art , its not bad but when u see it so many times it getting boring, the same thing happened when u eat the same dish over and over . so i say this was a new experience to me , great job dev, pls continue what u doing , would love to see a sequel of this in the future . (PS: Vel so freaking cute ... and no i'm not WEIRD).

the love (hope this not their idea of what love is ) is literally just coming off as he got a cute gal to screw that it.
Even some bits including ending ahhg on ending show this very strongly --> girl even comes off same way only because how she handles emotions it slightly different .


If a part 2 was ever made or even just a new 1 with her (as developer says they will) I hope the writing gets a bit better and more developed.

Art though perfectly great no need to improve/change (animation could use a little more variety / more movements but it pretty good).

Great Job, no reason to not play/read this it short and above average.

This has to be the best one I've played this year yet. Kinda short, but has great writing with well-written characters.
Here's hoping it's only the beginning.

The situations are actually kind of hot, with them happening in the spur of the moment and don't feel forced. Didn't expect animations, but they're always a big plus.

It's Kamuo. Seriously, it's difficult to find a single work by Kamuo that isn't pure gold, and this game only adds to that claim.

First of all, it's short, but just like a nice gourmet meal, you get an explosion of flavor with every bite. Don't let the short game time fool you. There's a lot of work put into this. Well-written and funny dialogue, cute art, great animations and hot sex scenes. This game has all one could ever ask for.

My only complaint is that Vel and the protagonist have absolutely no chemistry. All he can think about when it comes to what he likes about her is how cute or hot she is. That's very superficial. He also only thinks of sex when they're together. They can't even have a conversation because all he has in his mind is sex. The silence between them when not talking about sex or memories is so uncomfortable. It makes me cringe.

Visuals are good and characters are pretty cute and but story wise it doesn't really tell me much. Protagonist falls in love with a grim reaper just because she's cute, that's it. The girl doesn't really understand what are they doing or for what reason so it just feels kinda empty. Her friend is the side character that tried to be funny but she really isn't. Maybe the devs should have worked on it half a year more, putting a little more of writing, enrich the characters and story, etc., and release it as a demo or beta and not as a completed game, so they keep updating it and stuff, just like the other games do. Hope to see more in the future.

The Actual rating is a 9/10, but since we can't rate half a star, I will settle with 5 stars, more on that later.

So this is a rather short and sweet VN, and I believe the Overview tells you all you to know: You are dating death, literally.

Now gameplay-wise, there really isn't anything to say...since as a "kinetic novel" you don't really- okay very minor spoilers:

Basically, you are here to enjoy a story about how you (the protag) meet the grim reaper and what happens from then.

Since there is no "gameplay" to write about (this is my first time writing a review on a VN...let's not start on the argument of "Are VN/KN games?" okay?)
All we have to judge is the art and the writing, so how are they?

The art is fantastic if you dig that anime style shown on the title card, especially the animations.
Yes, animations. This VN has those.
Now in probably other 12 million VNs out there, the character often just has a "paper cutout" of themselves just stand behind the textbox, while in reality, they are doing something far more complex...but just not shown due to the author being lazy.

But this one is rather special in this department:
There is seldom a scene where the character just stands there and talks. Almost every scene is showing what they are doing when talking, and they are all animated...ofc a lot, I will even say all of them are just looping. But they are done so well. It basically feels like someone cut out clips of anime and make it into a VN.
Ofc, this includes the sex scenes...and yes, all of them are animated.
With anime grade quality and all very smooth with at least 20+ frames, and not just some 2 frames picture swapping.

So the art is top-notch, how is the story?
Well, this is what this game sort of fall short...yes despite the perfect grade I give, and now I will explain why:
Yes, in most cases. I will argue stories matter in a game. Especially if this is a VN, where there is really no gameplay, and the story is what is left to carry a game.
But porn/adult/hentai games are an exception. Since there is a sizable amount of players who are only in for the porn, they play a hentai game simply because they want porn as fast as possible, and yes, this game provides that.
The base game is already short enough already, more so if you skip everything.

This game really reminded me of that ps4 exclusive game, The Order 1886...yes an odd as fuck comparison I know, but hear me out:
The Order 1886 is a game that has fantastic graphics, but gameplay and story fell short. With the game being a bog-standard TPS and story hinting on something greater.
Basically, this game has the same premise: Featuring great art and sort of shallow story...except this game won't cost you 40~60 USD. Plus unlike 1886, in which people expect an epic story and shit. You get exactly you want in this game...so this ends up not a good comparison isn't it?

But I digress, my (very minor) problem with the story is this all happens way too fast. Like the game is short, so developments between the protag and Vel (Grim Reaper) is kinda fast even by porn game standard.

Plus Vel is a Kuudere (Google it if you don't know what it means), she is not exactly thrilled about knowing the protag, and seems to not understand a lot of "humans interaction". Oh sure later on- wait, spoiler alert:

But if you don't know that (hell even if you know that), the protag's advancement towards her generally feels kinda wrong...sure Vel said she doesn't really care, but she also doesn't understand what the protag is doing just adds to the creepiness.

Conforms that their relationship is consensual, but Vel's general Kuudere-ness and doesn't care about how protag is doing with her make this seems the protag is manipulating her for his own sexual needs. Plus the fact this game is, like most other VNs, a first-person narrative of the protag doesn't help.

But you know what? In the end, the above italic paragraph doesn't matter.
This is a hentai game, how many of those have a protag that has a total lack of interest in sex?
I admit it is just me reading too into the protag, a character that is non-existence and suppose to be a player sit-in.
I guess if the protag is supposed to be me (just with an actual day job) if I am in his shoes, I will probably do the same...since I am a 24 yrs old who has been single for 24 years-

ANYWAY, despite I find the story fell short and the protag creepy- NO BAD, STOP SAYIN THAT.
The story itself has no major problem and serves the animations right. Which is superb in the anime VN genre...hell even that very famous one about catgirls with animated talking scene, full voice acting and "P button feature", the sex scene in that is still just CGs... well-done CG, yes. But they don't have animations.

TL;DR
Fantastic art and animations able to show almost all character actions. With a short and sweet story (but with some very minor problems) hinting on something greater.

Also it is worth mentioning that this game is not the end story to Vel. The devs have said that this game is just made to see how the feedback was to his (assume) style...which apparently it is good enough since he (assume) also said this story will go on via sequel or another format.

i adore this game the artist is a genius the character is adorable and so lewd, you will love playing with her, extra cute girl and the content is good overall i recommend this game for a great fun time

This is an impressive kinetic VN, with fluid animations (!) and a lovable cast of characters.
Vel and Neu are both top tier waifus and get are well portrayed, despite the short length of the game.
The sex scenes are lovely, feel natural and contain great writing and animations.

This game is a must play for anyone who likes big tiddie goth girls or is looking for his next waifu.

this is the best story game ever i played!! The character is so perfect especially Velvel❤ The game is kinda short but really enjoyable. The romance between the Grim Reaper and MC eally cute. I'm kinda disappointed that there's no gallery for the game. You should make more game like this but more characters i guess?? I know that's a lot of work to do. Keep it up

Short and sweet straight forward story with extremely good visual!

Would of wished there was more options in term of corrupting her or using her friend instead of just having the option to love her.

But overall it's a great short game!

God damn are the characters cute. The animations just served to make the entire thing even better, especially with how well they're made, not in the sense that they are top quality animations, but they are implemented well and they animate things that you don't expect (like the bed while they're violating social distancing suggestions).

This was, hands down, the greatest lewd game I have ever played. The art was brilliant; the sound was brilliant; the characters look brilliant and come off as both incredibly cute and sexy. I thought the animation was great; I thought the voice for Val was perfect. Just overall, this game was brilliant in my eyes.

I genuinely can't wait for more MC and Vel sweetness, as well as more Neu interactions, 'cause it's always funny when she's there.

A fantastic short and sweet visual novel. The art style is anime inspired and the animations are top notch. There's not much to the story, but the lead up to the scenes are cute and funny, it's legit like an anime. Looking forward to the continuation of this game.

This game is pure perfection, everything is neat and organized... the animations are so fluid and the Grim reaper girl is really cute, Such an underrated piece in this site. We need more stuff like this on here, easily 10/10

This is legit the best art i've ever seen, so freaking beautiful, sexy and cute at the same time. I can't wait to see where this goes, and i'm already into the setting of the story. The scenes are also really hot, and i love the clueless personality to Vel.

I absolutely love the quality and cute design of images/animation in this game. Never seen like this before in a VN.
There are not a lot of content per update, but the quality of the images definitely makes up for it.

Not a big fan of the dialogues, but they're not too bad I guess.

The music tho, is irritating :/ I just mute the game and put on my own.

I'm still giving a 5/5 because this is definitely not an objective review. I really really loved the images/animation and that's only what it takes for me to be satisfied :')

Hello my name is Siderophilia and I have played The Grim Reaper who reaped my Heart! [2020-01-15] by Kamuo.

As of its current state this is a short (<1 hour) kinetic novel about a guy who is visited by the Grim Reaper. The Reaper, unlike what you'd expect, is actually a cute girl who just wants to play video games all day and is entirely clueless about the sexual acts of the living, but without much convincing soon becomes a willing participant.

The current version has a total of three animated scenes (none of which include penetration) and a few CG's to go between them. These animations are without a doubt the strong point of this game, with nice fluidity and even voice acting consisting of soft moans which fit very well with the scenes. The design for Vel-chan (the titular Grim Reaper) is something you can decide if you like for yourself, personally I find it cute. The game has background music which I suppose sort of fits with what's on display but it isn't anything noteworthy.

When it comes to writing which I believe should be the main course for any kinetic novel it doesn't offer up all that much. There isn't all that much of it but what there is at the same time manages to feel a bit like filler content between the animations. I guess if you're into the socially awkward gamer girl trope it's a big plus but other than that there isn't much personality to either of the characters. So far the fact that she is supposed to be representative of the grim reaper has been of lesser importance for the story, and it could equally well be replaced with her being the Ghost of Christmas Past without having much of an impact. I suppose at least it's written in correct and comprehensible English, which isn't something you see every day. At the end it teases the introduction of another cute reaper girl, but that'll have to wait for future releases.

That's pretty much it for The Grim Reaper who reaped my Heart. Sweet girl, good animated scenes, but a pretty lackluster story which might as well be skipped through. 4/5
