Apparently so. I reported this matter already and this was the answer:

The same thing is happening to multiple games since yesterday, perhaps some antivirus update has gone wrong.

I am waiting a little more just to be sure, but they "should" be safe.

I have no new tasks after buying the autotraining machine. Am I missing something, or is it where the plot ends right now?

The task list is currently just a tutorial to introduce players to the gameplay loop. Use the Halo without being seen, fuck to increase their submission level, bring them back to your room and insert them into the training machines to corrupt them further, etc.
